Default DA 100 Question

Ok guys, I know this has been probably been beaten to death, however I am going to try again. I am planning to buy a DA 100, however it does not have a home. I would like you guys to comment on what plane would be best suited for this engine. Not a builder, so please stay away from kit answers. I think ARF are getting better every year, and I could not build as well as some of the arf on the market today. So what do you guys think. what would be the best home for my DA 100?

Thanks in advance!!!

I've been looking at the new quick build Aeroworks Extra 260 for my homeless DA-100... See http://aero-works.net/store/detail.aspx?ID=253 for further details... You should also look at the 33% Yaks from Aviation Models www.toc1.com

I would advise that you just search the threads in the 3D and Giant scale forums. Any reply here would only be subjective, and reflect the writers own likes, or dislikes. Every plane available is discussed, Most of them with building threads. The style someone else like to fly may not be your cup of tea.

Aeroworks 260 looks great and so does the QQ 102" Yak. Those 2 would be on the top of my list.

The Great Planse 1/3 scale CAP 580 is also reported to be a nice 100cc plane... As already suggested -- seach the giant scale forum for more info on 100cc planes...

Here are my choices... I have built / put together and flown all of these

Garbage / Don't waste your time:

Aeroworks Katana

The OK / Average (OK quality, good flyers, just not fantastic):

Planes Plus Extra (low rating due to China Kote covering)
Chip Hyde Extra (low rating due to China Kote covering)
H9 Extra (nice plane, only reason its not higher on my list is I have had glue joint issues on all three I finished)
Wild Hare Extra (heavy, numerous quality problems)

These are a lot better:

H9 Cap (older ARF, hard to find - but exceptional flyer and very well built)
Jtec / Radiowave Extra
TOC Yak, TOC Extra
DR Extra (similar to Comp Arf - not quite as nicely finished)
Radiocraft Extra (if you can find one)

These are the best / world class competition winners

Comp Arf Yak
Comp Arf Extra
QQ Yak
3W Extra
Used Carden 35% Extra, or Edge (yes, you can buy a VGC used Carden for about what you'de pay for an ARF)

There are of course, many other options. I fly a QQ Yak with a 3W 106, my other personal choice is a Carden Edge. I like the Comp Arf planes as well but I prefer the wood / built up assy over composite. Once you have flown or set up one of the "best" list planes, it is very hard to even consider anything less.

I love my comp-arf 2.6 and DA100/stock muff combination. 8611 servos. If I were looking for a new 100cc plane it would be 2.6 extra then QQ 102 yak then avaition models 35% yak. The 2.6 3Ds like mad and deserves a look even if you don't have the cash. I dorked mine the other day and it is already to get back in the air, just waiting on a couple a small parts.

Good luck with your plane. You will love running the DA100, I have almost 50 gallons through mine and it is the best engine I have ever had.

I'm putting mine in a 35% Carden Extra 330. The entire plane is built around this motor. All the spacing, measurements, etc. are on the plans.
