Personally, I'd resort to cleaning a spark plug only if I didn't have a replacement plug and as a last resort. I swapped the factory plug on mine with an NGK CM6. Starts are easy and with the needle settings Brian suggested it seems to be pretty close if maybe a little rich, which is desirable on a new engine..

My servo arms came in and have been installed. The Edge is ready to maiden, however my free time will be limited this weekend having family in town for a visit. So maiden will probably be weekend after next. Repairs on the Yak are almost complete and my 50cc Extra 260 should be at my doorstep tomorrow, so all is well...

One is done, one begins.... My big yellow canary (50cc Extra 260) showed up this evening. UPS tried, but failed to damage it in shipment. Inner boxes were in pristine condition thanks to the particle board they used between the inner and outer boxes (nice touch).

You will like this plane...its a great IMAC plane...be careful with this one...if you get a little slow on final, it has a tendancy to wing drop.

Thanks for the info. Family left this morning, so been tinkering on the workbench shoehorning a DLE 20 into my 60-90 Extra 260. So far so good...

I have a Brillelli 36GT needing a mate. Seems like it would be a decent match up with the 30cc Edge. The RTF weight of the 36 is 50oz. Any opinions? Thanks.

Not familiar with the Brillelli but the DLE 30 swinging a 19X8 Xoar is more then enough power for this bird and it balances out to specs with the recommended gear placement. The DLE weighs ~38oz and change, so you'll be about 12 oz more nose heavy than mine.

Maidened mine today and got 3 flights on her so far. The DLE 30 idles down fine with no worries of it being a runaway with the 19X8 Xoar. I'm still tweaking on it and contemplating moving the CG forward from where the balance buddy has it. She's very elevator sensitive for my tastes and wants to snap out of a loop even on the recommended low rates. All in all she flies well and very nimble. She goes where you point her, just have to be mindful of the elevator and her tendency to snap. First flight was rather interesting till I got a handle on those tendencies.

I'm going with the Power HD 8309's for my Extra 300 with DLE 30cc. I sent you a message Brian about the choke mod as well.

Hi.

I am new to this Forum.
Just finished my aeroworks 30cc. Here are some pics for you to see.
I have a CARBONFIBERXOAR 18x8, any questions on how this prop will perform?
What is the best prop for 3D at 2,200 feet. I am using a DLE 30CC.

Regards,
Alberto.

I think the prop is going to be too small and too low or pitch. That motor will rip the prop during break in. If it was me I would have gone up in pitch to a 10 on the 18 or went to 19X8. I ran an 18X8 Xoar laminated initially and it ripped it....way to small.

Ok. Thanks.
I do have a 19 x 8 CF Mej. and a 19 x 8 Xoar Laminated. I will test both to see which performs better.
Final question: Did you seal the control surfaces in this plane? I know that is always better to do that, but will it hold if I do not? I am concerned about the big rudder.

Regards,
Alberto

I thought I remember seeing a post about sealing the surfaces but I can't find it now. It's buried. If you did, was the seal only on one side?

Better watch routing your ignition wire through the exhaust pipes. I did it that way on mine and it took about 5 flights to burn through it. I zipped tied mine to the other stand off.

You do not need a channel for your ignition unless you are using a opti-kill ignition. You do not need it if you set up your throttle on a throttle kill.

Hello? So has anyone thought that the plane is EXTREMELY sensitive to elevator inputs? Maybe tail heavy at spec? If so, what have you done to correct it? How have your landings been?

If you balanced per the balance buddy, it almost spot on. Secondly, take a little elevator and aileron out somewhere around 11 to 14 percent and use around 35 expo. That plane flies better than any of the planes I own. Tell me about your setup as well.

I have over 100 flights now on my Extra 300. I found that by using the balance buddy, I was a little tail heavy at the recommended balance. I moved my ignition battery to the front on the engine box and mt receiver battery near the fuel tank.

Also, the elevator input way very sensitive even at the low rates. That's an easy fix in the radio.

Not really, I have a little over 3 gallons thru my 30cc AW Edge, balanced a "tad" forward vs the CG buddy location. I generally take AW "low rates" on ELE/AILand cut them in half formaiden flightsetc....Landings are extremely predictable and controllable. The Edge planform is a confidence builder IMO, it is my favorite.

What is your current setup? Where are your Control Throws, Expo, CG set? From all of the flight testing I have done on every size of the Edge's they have proven to be extremely stable in flight.

Found my problem. As I looked at the plane from across the basement, I realized that the ratio of servo arm to elevator control horn was around 2.5 to 1. I have reduced it to 1.25 to 1 and it 2 flights have seen a very noticeable difference. I need to change servo arms to a shorter length to obtain a 1 to 1 ratio. Balance is about 2 degrees nose down on the balance buddy.
