Hi guys! HELP! I got a msg that I had a pvt msg, but when I clicked on the reply address, it refused me access to yhe
pvt. mail! Whoever it was had "homebuilt materials" as the subject. How do I get to the msg, and why would I be refused? Have been involved with the thread for some time, so am not new. Lee Robinson W. Palm Bch, FL

I am curious, is it easier to learn how to fly full scale airplanes and helicopters if your a proficient RC pilot?

You will understand principals of flight better, but no, I don't think it helps in actual flying.

It will vary from person to person. I did my solo in 9 hours and I have a freind that was able to land a Piper Warrior on his second lesson... Then again I've seen some rc guys take FOREVER to get their license. It's more difficult to fly an rc well than it is to fly a full scale airplane.

In general proficient rc guys will solo much sooner than someone starting from scratch. The understanding of adding power for altitude and adjusting pitch for airspeed as well as the general feeling of an airplane getting more and more sloppy the slower it gets helps you get the feel much quicker. Anyway this is me and my recently departed baby that I owned for 6 years if it uploads[img][/img]

And generally the full scale pilots are harder to teach to fly R/C too! Most I've encountered have a severe case of "knowitallitis". They usually learn the hard way, via their checkbook!

Then again my best and fastest student was a 727 captain. Soloed in three 15 minute flights

Good point, I've noticed the same thing. Full scale guys trying to act like they're aviation experts because they have a license. They do generally have a more difficult time learning to fly r/c. I think knowitallitis increases the learning curve because the mentality that you have superior knowledge and skill to the "mere ground bound r/c pilot" keeps them from listening to their r/c instructor...
But there are exceptions to almost everything.

The weather Sunday afternoon was great, but I busted half the elevator off of my Kat 40. Not wanting to waste the day, I took to the air in the full scales. Thought yall might like some of the pics that followed.

When you click reply, there is a tab just under the text box that says "click here to upload". This will allow you to upload pics to a post.

LowFlyBye,
Excellent pics! I am currently in a voluntary layoff for a few years while I put three kids thru college. I did have time to teach R/C to the nephew of a gentleman who is the owner of a Cherokee 140 this past fall. This has started a friendship and opportunity to get a little flying time in the 140.

LowFlyBye do you take your own photos or does someone else. Who ever does I congratulate them, they are EXCELLENT. Here are a few photos I took from my Piper Clipper, of my neighbor's helicycle. The airport in the background is the one I live at. It is in my new video LOW FLYBY!!! Posted here ( http://tinyurl.com/cu34m ) .

Slick:

That's a prettylittle airplane David has, and his street name is "Igor Sikorsky." Appropriate.

Tell me, please, what is an "AMA/EXPR" engine? What I can see of it looks like a turbine.

You didn't do too badly with your pictures either.

Bill.

Thanks for the compliment. I took all the photo's except for the air-2-air of N6768B as I was the subject plane in those shots. I could not do it without my buddies who help out with some great formation flying. We all work together really well, without it I could not get close enough to get the good shots. Your shots are not bad either. I use a Fuji Finepix 6.4 megapixel camera for my photo's and for every 5 shots I get one keeper. The day just after a cold front passage seems to be the best weather for photo's as it is usually clear skies with very little to no haze.

Bill, the AMA/EXPR is one of the types of engines available for the Helicycle. However my neighbor Dave has the other engine which is a Solar T62T-32. It is basically an Eagle R&D modified CH-47 Chinook APU engine.
