RE: WM T-34 questions/ updates
squatch, try an APC 11x5. That's what I'm running on my OS .46FX on this plane.
Joseph, you're right about the knife edge, and 4 point rolls with this plane are beautiful! [8D]

It's an excellent combo! Almost unlimited vertical with an 11x5 APC prop. [8D] I like the 11x5 because it keeps the speed managable and also slows the plane down nicely for landings.

Supertigre engines rock. A little off topic, but I have been eyeballing that new H9 P-51 deal. I looked at one today at my LHS. I can't afford one right now , but it looks like a prospect. Maybe a good first taildragger. So many planes, so little cash!!!

pressurerat - thinking of another plane already, huh :-) be careful! soon you'll be like me, a dozen planes and half a dozen engines NIB :-), which is nothing compared to some others. be careful of bug!!!
about that plane, after you master the t-34, you'll be ready for a lot of planes... whatever you choose, i doubt it'll be the H9 plane you're talking about

I like the sound of this plane, and have a TT GP42 spare. I fly off grass though, and have never flown a trike, how will it handle a grass strip?

Jacko, I'm not sure how the GP42 will do on a grass strip with that plane.........I think a lot depends on how high & thick the grass is.....
Trike gear planes aren't too bad on grass......just keep some up elevator while you're rolling out to keep the nose gear light......when you pick up speed and the plane gets lighter on the wheels, you can slowly release the up elevator (so that the plane doesn't take off too early)......get up to flying speed and then take off. This method works good for me.

Do you get tired of seeing the same red, blue and yellow T-34s? I do! Here's a couple of recover jobs I did to spice things up at our club T-34 races.

Hey mate, looks real good! Congratulations
I used to have a yellow one too, until a faulty receiver got it smashed [&o]
I had everything stock and that plane really moved with a SuperTigre G51 engine & 12x4 APC prop
I just LOVED to land it fast [>:]
Here's a video if you wanna take a look

RE: WM T-34 questions/ updates
Have a Question about the push-rods provided with the kit. This is my first world T-34 and I haven't used the old stick and wire push-rods for over 20 years. Does everyone use the stock sticks and wire for the rudder and elevator? Are the pushrods intended to cross over each other? Any bends required? I thought about using the 2-56 wire push-rods, but I can't get into the back of the plane to secure the plastic tube except at the ends. Please Help

RE: WM T-34 questions/ updates
Phat,
I used the stock setup.....can't remember if I crossed the pushrods in the fuse on this plane, but I know I have on others with the same type of setup. I would highly recommend using higher-quality shrink-wrap tubing however.....some of the stock stuff is too thin, or becomes brittle easily. Also, it's a good idea to cut a little groove in the wooden dowel for the pushrod to rest in.....before shrink-wrapping, CA the pushrod to the dowel. I can't remember if the WM instructions mentioned this or not.

RE: WM T-34 questions/ updates
Thanks for the response. The bonding of the rod to the dowel is the only thing the instructions show. One point of confusion is that all the pictures in the instructions and on the box show the push-rods in different locations than on my actual plane. The exit for the elevator is now located under the surface on the right side , not above the surface on the left side like shown in the instructions. I am not sure if the servo layout in the instructions is correct, after they changed the exit locations for the push-rods. I just want to try and prevent any problems before I get all the radio installed.

RE: WM T-34 questions/ updates
My elevator pushrod comes out on the underside of the horizontal stab....and the rudder pushrod is on the opposite side of the plane, above the stab. I would route the pushrods that way, hook them up to the control horns, and then decide what is the best configuration for the servos.

RE: WM T-34 questions/ updates
Can you guys post pictures of the main landing gear? I am building this plane and I am not sure where to make the hole in the wing for the landing gear.

RE: WM T-34 questions/ updates
I don't have this plane anymore, but as long as I remember, that hole is already made but is under the covering. You can try to feel the area with the tip of your fingers untill you feel the "railing" where the gear goes.
The hole is at the farthest side of the railing (from the fuse)
Give it a try

I found the railing, but it is bigger than the landing gear. So I was wondering if the hole is near or far from the fuse. I don't want to cut it in the wrong edge.

I'm so dumb!!
Yes mate, you're 100% right, sorry I apologize, MY MISTAKE!!![&:] ... the hole is NEAR the fuse where the railing ends.
You can cut the covering with a blade on the railing next to the end (near the fuse) so you can play with the landing gear wire to see if you "find the hole"
Much like when you try to insert your key into your door when it's dark
Good luck

RE: WM T-34 questions/ updates
Thank you. This is my second plane and first ARF. My first airplane was RTF. I have built cars before, but there is no glue or cutting involved, so I am a little afraid of making a irreversible mistake.

You're welcome acerola
That was my "first" ARF too, as I had a RTF before.
You'll LOVE that plane, and basically there are no "irreversible mistakes" in this hobby
Good luck!
