As far as power, when new, the engine was fairly tight until I ran about 2 gallons through her. Now it seems every time I fly her she gains a little more power. This particular O.S. engine just took a little bit longer to break in.

I am currently putting together the value hobby version of this plane. I will be modifying the ailerons, rudder, and elevator with much larger control surfaces. I am planning on putting an Agm 30 engine on it unless I can find something used in the meantime.

Second Hairys suggestion, I have a GUS with a G-38 and a new VVRC 20 on my Ultra Stick. I really am impressed with the 20 a good value. A friend actually two, have the 40 twin from VV very nice!

I too have a VVRC 20, great little motor. I recently found a RCS 44 B2 new in the box that I got for a very good deal. Think I will pull the single off my GUS and give the 44 a try. It's not as powerful as a dle or vvrc twin Im sure, but the stick shouldn't need a whole lot. It has the TGY 52, which is basically the power and wt of a 40, and it does pretty well. but I think the 'cool factor' will go up with the boxer hanging out on front!

Anyone still flying these birds?[/QUOTE]
When I am up for messing with temperamental gear, loose cowls, and tricky radio settings, I'll take out the warbirds.
When I just want to fly and not worry about anything, I'll take the stick.
Post up some pics with that twin installed!

Ended up selling mine a little while ago, but am seriously thinking of getting another. I'm flying a Bill Hempel 25% clipped wing cub now that is a lot of fun, but not quite as aerobatic as the GUS! Just got a DLE35RA for the cub to replace the DLE55 I had in it. I think the 35RA would be a great match for the GUS.

Need to get working on it! I didnt even have a workspace setup, so had to build a table first, and a matching one for my son
Anyone have any experience with un-regulated electronic setups? Looks like i can use a 2s lipo on the ignition, and want to do the same for the RX/servo's. So i bought all HV hitec servos for the bird, will be running HS-5495BH's in the wing, HS-5685MG's on the tail, and an HS-430 for the throttle, all HV servos.

You'll blow the ignition with unregulated LiPo's as the voltage is too high.
Use LiFe packs instead, which require no regulation @ 6.6v
Also you'll want hefty electronics packs. I use 4200mAh LiFe for the electronics and 2000mAh for the ignition unregulated on all five Stiks I posted the picture for previously.
No problems what so ever.
