Im having trouble searching for some reason so couldn't find much info so I have a question: where are you guys mounting your tank?
It seems like per manual is too far forward...wouldn't it be better over CG? I did see one picture with the tank under the spar...gonna see if my gas tank will fit.

Just the landing gear broke?
I did only a 4-5 flights on mine, I had no dead stick this far, but this plane won't float to well.
Great job, this could have been a lot worse :-)

I moved mine back, so the back end of the tanks hits the wing tube.

Yeah I was looking at it that'll be good enough. Too much work for me to get it underneath.

Not yet, it was rich and I have ducting to cool the head. My 1st mistake was taking it far from the runway, if I had stayed close it would not have been a problem.

I'll fix it and try to sort it out.
It's my 1st time using a fuel regulator also.

It ran so good on the ground, I just didn't expect the dead stick.

Sorry about the crash landing but thank goodness the damage does not seem to be a major as it so easily could have been much worst. Hopefully the re-maiden flight will be much more successful.

I had to order some servos the ones in my crashed P-51 are standard Hitecs.

Got the engine mounted, throttle hooked up and tank in. Rudder servo is in too I'll prob put the gear and stabs on and hook up the rudder...will be my first pull/pull setup.

I can fix it, it didn't harm the firewall or supports.

Yeah man that's a bad one. I had a Great Planes Escapade and the gear almost acted like Velcro. Rip it off and stick it back on.

Hope it goes together nicely for you.

Well i maidened mine today and she flew really nice. The CG ended up a little more than 5.5" after I strapped batteries to the tube. I had them on the tray in front of the servos.

I was a little nervous like any first flight but wasn't sure what to expect with this one based on this thread. The runway was a bit soggy but she took off with a little right rudder. I think the moisture held her up a bit because it took longer than I expected to get in the air. I was holding full up elevator on my low rates and she took off almost straight up...prob not a scale take off for anything but an F-22.

I flew her around a bit and needed two click of up elevator and two of right aileron...not bad at all. I'm cruising around and my brother asks what's hanging off the back...it was the tail wheel hanging by the springs the screws ripped right out in takeoff.

The landing was nice even without a tail wheel and I didn't have much room today. I don't know that she floated just yet but I liked it. I'm looking forward to getting her up again.

That's terrible, hope I didn't start a trend.

Yes you did start a trend...you really need to buy me a new Yak and I'll send you the wings. Ha ha

I'm so mad at myself. I bought a new Walbro carb for the DLE and she was idling and running great. It was the beginning of great things but I have no patience I should have waited.

I don't think it's repairable the firewall came off. A new fuse is 180 bucks for some reason and I doubt you can transfer the rear stabs anyway? So yeah I'll have to buy another one...not sure what I'm gonna do just yet.
