Default Hangar 9 Showtime 90

I have an opportunity to pick up one NIB for 160.00. I would liek to know if this is a good deal. It appears to me, that it is. It also doesn't appear that this is made any more. Is there anything I need to know about this ARF, or that I should be concerned with? Lats but not least, any thoughts to putting Zenoah G20ei on it.

Thanks,
BH

Big Hog,

I didn't know Hangar 9 quit making the Showtime, it is really a good flying airplane. I know two people who have one. the first one "had" a Saito 125 in it and the second one has a Saito 100 in it. If I were building the plane, I'd use a motor that is more powerfull than the Saito 100, either a Saito 115, a Saito 125 or a YS110. IMHO, I don't think you would be happy with the plane if you put a G20 in it. The motor is just too heavy for the power it puts out, not to mention the weight of the extra battery for the ignition. The Showtime is a "semi-pattern" plane that flies better, the lighter it is.

Good luck with your plane. Let us know how it turns out...

You scared me. The [link=http://search.horizonhobby.com/index.jsp?D=showtime+90&Ntt=showtime+90&N=0&sid=11F65FFF2E8E]ShowTime 90[/link] does indeed appear to be missing from Horizon Hobby (only some spare parts remaining). But the 50 and electric are still there though. I have the electric and have been considering the 50 for future.

I love how it flies. Great characteristics.

I went ahead and purchased it. It just seem to good to pass up. I looked athe parts, 105.00 for one wing half. I guess 160.00 for the whole thing is a good deal. The engine selection is still up in the air. The largest 2 stroke I have is a ST90, 4 stroke is a Saito FA100, and the GAS Zenoah G20ei.

Hey BigHog,

If those are your only engine choices, I'd put the ST90 in it. It will be slightly overpowered and there shouldn't be too much of a weight issue. Good luck with your plane.

Indeed Hangar 9 has stopped selling the Showtime 90.
I sent an email asking why and got no reply.
It's very hard to find one now. If ya do......grab it.

Hope they will reconsider and start selling them again.
Maybe if we all send an email to Mike McConnville...
I have one NIB and a Saito 1.25 which I plan to fly this spring-summer.
Best Regards
JC

a 120 ax would be ideal for some good 3d, a st90 would be good for aerobatic flying and a 60 would be go for sport flying

I have a Showtime 90 NIB for sale here on RCU. Hangar 9 no longer makes the plane but you can still get parts.

A 90 2 stroke will barely fly it and someone mentioned a 60 or 61 2 stroke? A 60 /61 would not be able to get the airplane flying or it will just barely, the plane is 9.5 lbs or so finished. It is a great airplane, I had an OS 120 AX in a Showtime 90. A friend of mine had a Saito 100 in his Showtime 90 and it could barely fly the airplane. He put a Saito 125 in the Showtime 90 and it is fine now. The O.S. 120 AX flew the Showtime 90 well also.

The truth..

I contacted Horizon regarding this as well. Luclky I did receive a reply back that that sometimes the planes are discontinued or put on hold for various reasons. I own a Showtime 50 with a Saito .82 and love it, and was looking to go with the 90 and put a Saito 125 into it. Unfortunatly, they no longer offer it. I have a slight feeling it had something to do with Hanger 9 and the economy as this was a good selling plane and everyone liked it. But that wouldnt make any sense as its high in demand. I dunno.

Well, the Showtime 50 now cost more than the Showtime 90 did new and the Showtime 90 is almost twice as big as the 50, I have owned both a Showtime 50 and a Showtime 90, the 90 is twice the bird....so...they raised the price of the Showtime 50 over $100, Showtime 90 was $199, the Showtime 50 is now $259 and I guess the Showtime 90 would have to be $399 or so to keep up with the new price increases.

The same thing happened with the Funtana X 100, the Funtana X 50 was raised to more than the X100 cost, so basically you are paying more for a plane that is half the size of the original Showtime 90 and Funtana X 100 and the big versions are discontinued. So, pay more money for less product....

I have a crrc 26 cc on mine and I'm really happy with this combination. It might be a little heavy for all out 3D
but if you work at it you can do most manuvers quite well. Of course lighter is always better. Just depends
on how you want to fly the plane.

I have one with the 120AX and it is an awesome combo!! I have a Saito 115 among others and the AX was my choice.
I have not seen anything on a new Showtime 90, I did see that the have a Funtana 125 out to replace the Funtana X100 that was discontinued the same time as the ST90

I have Showtime NIB and ordered the MLD 28 cc gasser engine for it. I've been waiting since early July for the motor. Once it comes in I can start building.

Why not put a MLD 28cc gasser or a Syassa 30cc gasser in it. They will fit and you're plane will haul the mail.

Anyone have a Showtime 90 NIB for sale?  I see that Horizon discontinued it, what a shame!  A great flying A/C.
