Here is the video of the fisrt flight. Still needs some minor adjusting on the O.S. 75ax but it flies good at half throttle.

Any brushless guys have to add massive amounts of weight to the nose? I'm at 10oz right now, and it still flies tail heavy. I think I'm going to go for the full pound up front and see what she does.

Looks great Teamscalepilot. Let us know how it flies. Slightly modified muffler may be a bit of an understatement...

I didn't have to add any extra weight, but I'm using the Sierra Precision strut that added some extra ballast up front. A note on that by the way.Anyone using one of these heavier struts (Sierra, Robart, etc) should note that the kit was definitely designed to support the lightweight wire strut and the accompanying give it provides on impact. I found this out after a fairly precarious landing after losing the battery power in mid flight. The strut was 100% and the firewall was toast. I didn't realize how thin it was until it crumbled in my hand. I'm building it back up with 1/4 lightweight ply so it will be better than before, but just a word to the wise.

BAC74 the same hapen to me on my second flight. The engine dicided to quit on final with strong cross winds.I did the firewall in 1/4" plywood and bolted the robart strut with 6/32 nylon bolts.
Just in case of another bad landinghappen the bolts will break off. Will post Pictures later of the set up.

roly,
That's a great idea with the nylon bolts. It'll be better to sacrifice those than another firewall or strut. Thanks for the idea, and pics are always appreciated..

Roly, Impressive mods all the way around. Would you please show detail on how you fastened the nose pant to the strut. Certainly look's more scale. A photo or two would really help. Thank you, MM

two 5s 3700 20c packs in parallel, spinning a scorpion 4025-12 As seen here swinging an APC 17x8 prop.
60a @ 1200w on the dot! Giving it 96 watts per pound, which is absolutly perfect for this plane.

Hey Roly1129

You have really done an outstanding job on your Cessna. I can't wait to get started on mine. I have the plane but have not had a chance to get started on it. If you don't mind could you answer a couple questions??

1. Are you happy with your choice of the OS-75AX? What prop are you using?
2. Do you have the part # for the muffler? (I think it is a Slimline Q - 5021 but want to be sure)
3. I have the Robart strut and it sounds as if I should reinforce the firewall from Get Go - It appears that hardwood wedge for mounting the strut that is currently on the firewall is too small and will need to replaced with a larger piece. Did you replace yours ? If so will it seperate from the firewall without tearing up original firewall? I plan to copy your idea and reinforce with 1/4" ply and then add a new wedge.
4. Any other suggestions would be apprecated.

Thank you in advance and thank you and the others for sharing all the wonderfull pictures and commentsthat have already been made..

I'm very happy with my engine choice. I use a TopFlite 14x6 prop. For scale flight 1/2 throttle is all you need. The part # you got for the muffler is the right one but here is a link to towerhobbies just in case
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXUNU0&P=0

About the firewall is better to reinforce it while your building the plane. I did my wedge out of 1/4" plywood and then used my belt sander to get the angle.

Thanks Roly. The photos helped. Has anyone besides me considered using an RCSpecialties "Turbo-Muffler". Yes, a little pricey but the very best for a four-stroke engine install. There here on the buy and sell forum. Will be doing one with my Saito 1.15 install. MM

I'm finishing up my model this weekend and I want to know if the scale antennas stays on during flight for those who have flown the plane. I'm probably going to leave them off during flight and put them on just for display. The magnets holding them down kind of scare me. Great kit! everything fits nicely and the instructions are excellent. Can't wait to see how she flys.

Thanks in advance

swift, I asked the same question a couple posts back, Everyone said they stay on just fine, which they do. I have 3 flights on my cessna now and no issues. I know, you feel them hardly click in and your like....really?! They work though...
I'd have more flights except its been like 95 degrees with 90% humidity out....its horrid. Its killing me just sitting there though....GAH! lol

Splix, thanks for the info. I'll give it a shot leaving it on which makes the plane looks more scale during the slow and dirty passes. Sorry to hear about the weather, that is why I moved to the NW. The summer flying season is not too hot in the Puget Sounds area (Seattle). Right now we are enjoying a typical June day where the temp is in the 60's.
