1St Timer
Hey everybody,
I've been reading this forum for a awhile- I've really learned a lot. After a couple of intro flights I finally shellled out the $ to get a plane. One of the guys at the local club sold me a used goldberg Eagle 2, went to the LHS and picked up a .46 ax with a Futaba 6EX-PCM radio.
Now to the question. I'm putting the Hobbico Ultra tote field box together and don't know what to use to paint/ fuel proof it. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks
Marc

I have not tried this before myself but I believe you could use good quality auto touch-up paint. You can also buy spray paint at the LHS that is deesigned explicitly to resist nitro fuel. Wait on the auto paint for someone to back me up before running out and buying that.

You will like the Eagle II. It is a good trainer. I built the Eagle II and the older version, the Eagle 63 both times when I started in this hobby. One was 20 years ago, and the other was 2 years ago

The regular rustoleum is mostly fuel proof if you let it cure for a while. Water-based polyurethane is another good option and is just a clear top coat. (behr is the best) If you can find it, a two part epoxy paint is good too. I haven't tried the one-part spray epoxy yet. (but will soon!) I regularly use 35-45% nitro. My solution was just to keep it separate.
oh yeah, the monokote paint is good up to 15% I think. Check the label.

Auto paints will hold up to any nitro content I have ever used (30%) but they are a little spendy unless you have some in your cabinet like I do.
