motor smoke
Hello, very new to this. I was changing a motor on my slow flyer. To a KMS 31/21 (very cheap little motor) Changing motor because I've rebuilt my mini max so much that it was becoming too heavy to get off the ground. I hooked up y new lipo, direct to the motor to test it. Wouldn't turn and started smoking. Got warm real fast. It turns by hand, but not under power. I have a second one but am afraid to test run it the same way? Is the motoor bad? Or did I just do it wrong by direct connection? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Scotty

RE: motor smoke
ratfish,
Oh my. Yeah you cooked the poor little thing. A brushless motor is not able to be hooked up to a pack directly like you can with a brushed motor.
Ummm, just out of curiosity, how did you hook up the three wire to the pack? And just had a thought, you're lucky you didn't smoke the pack too. When you plugged the motor in you caused a dead short.

RE: motor smoke
Sound like you used a ESC for a brushed motor on a brushless motor. And others have stated you can't do that. Just chalk this one up to your experience.
