I see they did the dyno test using a 2060 pipe. Did this help
it keep the h.p. up in the higher r.p.m. range? I said help it,
i'm not asking if the pipe was the reason it holds steady h.p.
readings in the upper r's. What motors have you modder gurus
found that the 2060 pipe works good with, besides the V-spec?

For 60in-oz of torque, that is way more powerful than the TRX3.3 dyno chart of your other thread. Yes, according to SRC, both engines made simliar power outpuuts (1.41 p and 1.48hp), but V-Spec has it beat wehre it counts: torque!

Unfortunately, according to this graph, the V-Spec didnt keep its torque curve for long, it started to lose area under the torque curve once above 23000RPM. Again, I thing this could have been corrected with pipe, plug, and tuning.

There's a great deal going here for a new VSPEC with pipe(2059) for a just killer price, but I've seen and read too much about issues with VSPEC's. Local guy at the last race had lost all compression within two gallons, then it grenaded on him. Saw another c.rapped VSPEC at an earlier race this year - no, two at that one.. Then on the forums you're always reading about bearing problems..

So what's the deal? I'm sold on the power... But are they a risky investment?..

yes i have herd alot of people say this.when a manofacturer mass produces engines like os does with its vsb.you get whats called bad baches.wich are engines wich get passed acadently through testing procedures.even thoe they are not up to specs.you will not find this with its itlian counterparts atleast not on this level.rb,novarossi, axerossi are all a higher grade engines and will out last a vsb any day.and a better investment in the long run, alot of vspec owners will argure these facts...simply because they own the os..you really cant compare a lamboginni to a toyota

Yea a toyota is 10xs more reliable LOL.

This is how I see it.. you are going to see more problems with anything that there is more of... There are probably more Vspec's sold in the US then about any other high end .21 off road engine. The Vspec has proven itself time and time again. Im not going to say they dont have there weak points or there is no Vspec that has ever had any problems... But I have yet to see any engine that didnt have a weak point and was PERFECT in every aspect.

Given German prices, €230 for a new VSPEC with new pipe is awfully hard to pass up..

The Orion CRF I want is €300 sans pipe..
