yyyeaaahhh seen them before[8D] I don't recon they will be too good! 1/18 is very small it would be going no where on grass or dirt really[&o] I have a RC18T with a mamba brushless motor that is incredibly fast (over 50 i recon, the site says the motor can push a mini-t over 80 or something silly like that[:-]) but put it on even short grass or slightly lumpy ground and its just all wheel spin and no go... great on road with little jumps or on the hard sand on the beach

aye, those little nitros look a lot of fun. would be ideal for taking to work - i often have a lot of time to kill in some good bashing spots!

the buggy layout looks a lot more fun than the truck to me. been looking at the little ofnas ones too. hmmm... not that expensive either - anyone had a go with one of these, or seen one in the flesh?

well, sorry to drag this thing back up to the top again...
But I'm gonna big block this thing right away.
So I read through this as much as I could stand lol. But I'm just wondering what mounts you found to be the best and cheapest.
Also, do the cen clutchbell/pinions fit on a .28 engine? Or do the bigger engines take bigger clutchbells?
Oh, and what flywheel seems to work best? I've got a spare cen one and a few savage ones here, but I'm not sure what I need.

thanks

Most big blocks use a tapered crank (SG) and you will need a new flywheel.
The stock CEN bells will work on the big block but will wear out faster, especially if you use the ones with aluminum pinions.
Depending on what engine you use really determines the engine mounts. People have used the stock CT4 mounts without clearance issues but Poor Judgement couldn't use them with his SH .28. The STS .28 is really similar to the SH but it might have more clearance than the SH. If you are looking at the STS (mentioned in another post) I recomend e-mailing http://www.racernine.com/sts.html and asking he is familiar with both the SH and the STS engines.

as per what rolland said.

i ended up buying some ofna 1/8 buggy adjustable mounts off ebay for 50p, and modded those and the engine plate to make it work.

ill measure the ct4 mounts when i get home if u like?

one extra engine plate should do it, u will just need to cut the centre part out of it, obviously, to get the clearance for the crankcase.

hth and good luck!

Sorry to drag this one back up again. lol

I have a nice STS .28 sitting here to go in the MT2. I've already got the swift shafts, stell pinions and spurs and upgraded diffs, So I think the truck should hold out alright.

Well, I forgot to get the mounting plate froma ct5 and I forgot a flywheel nut, so I am waiting a few days for those.
But in the mean time, I am trying to get this linkage figured out.

Now it wouldnt be too bad If I were to get rid of the stock radio box, but I really don't want to If I don't have to.
I just cant get the linkage set up to not hit the radio box...[:@]

Only thing I can think of is to raise the linkage up high enough to go over the box, but then I will be either bending whatever I used to raise it, or breaking servo horns...

Any brainwaves from anyone???

how about the cen rear mounted battery box, for the rx, and another smaller box for just the batts? i know u want to keep the original box, but its hard to make it work...

or - rx in rear box, and zip tie the batts to the throttle servo mounts?

my batts are ballooned and zip tied like that, and my rx and failsafe are on top of the steering servo all in one balloon and zip tied together. gotta love zip ties...

good luck mate, it doesnt leave much room does it?!?!

whats the plan with the exhaust? out over the back or a long headered side mount?

I didn't know cen had a rear mounted box... Got a part number offhand? or know where I can get one?

I am going to try some 3/8 copper pipe fittings to see if I can do the exhaust down the side. Should be able to make something work.

Thanks!

cool, thanks PJ. I have those saved on my computer, but I never noticed that part before...

I wonder if it will hit the ground and break off on bad landings and wheelies though...

i had it on mine for a while - it helped as a wheelie bar sometimes, othertimes it just ensured the back wheels came off the ground and went over anyway... the sand on the beach would creep into it too, which didnt help much. also the lid had a tendancy to get ripped off through wheelies! lol - its not as bad as it sounds, but its not a perfect solution.

some heavy duty tape around the box to help hold the lid on would be a good plan tho. taller gearing is good too, its too much of a handfull on stock gears imo. doing both should calm down the wheelies, and open up the chassis a bit.

Dustin, i used an ofna buggy receiver box and fitted the batteries in there. With some squizing you can fit the receiver in there if its not to big. or simple fit a ballon over it and zip tie it somewhere over the top front plate. Check my pictures, you might get an idea of what i am talking about.

Hey all!

Finally got this beasty all ready for some Beta testing.
Might be a bit before I get round to it though.

I ended up with a traxxas Tmaxx battery box as my reciever box, was a tight squeeze getting the reciver in as it was a rather biggish 4 channel, and a venom failsafe(the small one).

I put in a nice Nova 3 shoe clutch, but I have left the funfactor spurs with 14/17 pinions in there for now. I Imagine I will have to put in the Genesis spurs again.

I see where you guys had exhaust troubles, but I think my "custom" (sounds better than home made) exhast works.
I only hope it's not too close to the fuel tank to melt it.
