I have a couple of older kits I would part with . A Champion "Hammer 40" & a Pulsar bipe . Have flown both & had these for just incase , now I'm too old for airplanes that are a couple of hundred feet ahead of my mind all the time ! MAX H. [email protected]

I have a Curare and QuickFli III, both built in the 1970's that are both flown several times a year. The Curare still has the original OS .60 but the QF has a new OS in it. Both are fun to fly and seem to fly better every day. A fun airplane from those days is the Mach 1. It had a thin airfoil and nicely tapered wings. I went through 4 due to various malfunctions but the Curare and QuickFli kept motoring on. They have been through a lot of radio gear until I finally got the Futaba 8U system.

I have recently got the plans for Norm Page's Mach 1 design. Started making the
wing templates for cutting the foam wing cores. Would love to have a glass fuse.
I was very intrigued by reading the full construction article published by M.A.N
A lot of aerodynamic information there.

hello cassat 10
I didn`t build the EU 1A. I bought the plans from model builder magazine and a friend who was a pattern flier and a real good builder borrowed the plans to build one. He was doing an excellent job and had it all framed up and ready for painting when he had a hearth attack and died. After that sad situation I didn`t ask the widow about the plans or the plane. Sorry I can`t help you. Good luck in you search.

For anybody looking for some of these plans, try Bill Northrup's plans service or the plan service from Model Airplane News. Many of those plans are still available. Like the Curare, EU-1, Tiger Tail.

Yea, I remember VERY WELL what it took to build my Mach.
Even if it was almost 30 years ago.
Once the fuselage is "framed up", it looked like a piece of lumber from the lumber yard!
Then, templates were used at various stations along the length.
I learned how to use a wood plane by the time it was"roughed in".
Midwest balsa, (in their kits) was not the best in the 70's.
Remember there were no Great Paines power planers at that time.
But once finished, it flew quite well.
All was nice and smooth with a stock .60 Tigre Bluehead.
Then I got the idea to move up to the ABC Bluehead with Perry pump/carb.
So while this change was in the works, I decided to add a tuned pipe.
This setup gave nothing but power... To cause aileron flutter....
Yea, what memories.... But GOOD memories....

If anyone is interested in plans for the Kwik-fli MK III, I have posted detailed CAD drawings that I created when I was recovering from back surgery the are avalible for free download at this site http://plans.rcmodell.hu/index.html they are in DXF format. You can download a free Trial copy of Delta Cad which is the program that I created the drawings with. On the same site I have also posted plans for a 1/2A SkySquire I can help anybody with with Questions about printing the plans.

I campaigned with the Banshee using rear rotor Rossi 61s and later with the Tiger Tail using George Aldrich reworked Webra Blackhead 61s (10cc).
Prior to that I flew the Kwik Fli II and the Dragon Fli Designs Using the HP 61s.
Excluding landing gear problems the Banshee was by far the fastest and grooviest while the Tiger Tail was the most forgiving. It flew like a Kaos with sexier lines.
The early seventies was the era Semco mufflers the split ess turnaround and horizon to horizon passes.

Many of the original MK kits are available again.

I built the Curare 60 back in the 80s and have now bought a new one. Singapore Hobbies stock quite a few of these kits.
I also found the Aurora 60 on eBay but I don't think that kit is available anywhere though.

Hmm,

I have a Tippo I fly on a regular basis. I just never thought of it as "Vintage" or "old".

Thanks! I guess I keep missing it. I do not see a plans link on the page. Just construction articles and they are not all the plans they have.

If you are looking for the Model Airplane News plans, you have to click on the R/C Store icon. Then when there, the plans are one of the sections at the top.

Enjoy

Just found this thread. Very interesting reading. My flying goes back to the 70's and I remember most of the planes you all have talked about. I still have, and use, .60's from the 70's. Currently flying a Lanier Caprice w/ ST .60. 2 years ago was flying Kaos w/ Goldhead. Under my workbench is a NIB Skyglass Phoenix 5. Don't really know why I never built it, they were good flying airplanes. Does anybody remember a guy named Bill Kessler (BK Products) from the Denver area? He kitted an airplane called Nova. Glass fuse, foam wing, pattern ship.

Webra 10cc is not as powerful as the Webra speed of the same era. I got the specs from the Webra Web Site in Austria, there in German but the specs are there. The 10cc I believe is called the blackhead.

Does anyone at all know where I could find a troublemaker kit . It was a pattern ship from the 70's flown by Toni Bonnetti. It was one of my favorites.
