RE: Discontinued Kits
GP Super Sportster 90-120. Nice size, good kit, good flyer.
GP Ultra Sport 1000 was underappreciated, but the best flyer I ever had. Takes more effort and time to build.

RE: Discontinued Kits
BallGunner.... this might interest you.... I have a partial Orline DVII kit.... my father had a hobbyshop at one time, guy came in and wanted the airplane...BUILT, finished the top wing, he took it... started the lower wings... called him....he vanished into thin air. have the plans, one lower wing built but has hangar rash from sitting around, fuse unassembled in box.... I will get some pics so you know what you are dealing with..

RE: Discontinued Kits
I vote for a Goldberg Bucker Jungman
I've built two with the webra 1.20 in them and they were both sweet flying planes
and they are not a Pitts/Christian Eagle clone or an ultimate.

RE: Discontinued Kits
JoeFly43. Thanks for thinking of me. I have finished my D-VII (not an Orline) but have a friend who might be interested. At this time I'm building an Orline Deweyville Special for him. Let me know what the price and shipping is and I'll pass the word.

RE: Discontinued Kits
Good call, I just finished one, my Dad has one and I still have one new in the box to build yet, this has to be one if not the best, I would love to see this in a 1/3 scale model.

I know its hard to believe, but some of us still prefer kits and especially the ones that were predominant in the market early on when ARF's were junk.

Whatta ya mean were junk??? they alwas were, still are, and always will be. (IMHO) Bring back the old PICA kits, especially the WACO in 1/5 scale. ARF'ers can't build them, so they wouldn't appreciate them, but they are some of the best flying models ever.

RE: Discontinued Kits
I feel your pain, balsa bandit, but not all ARF's are junk; some might need a little tweaking, and some are pretty nice. A couple I'd like to see back are GP's DR-1, with a better engineered bottom wing structure (at least some shear webbing, or hardwood spar) and Sportsman Aviation's WACO 60. That is one solid built airplane, I just stripped and re-covered mine, and the fuse and wings are as well built as any kit.
As for Pica's WACO, yeah, I'd like to see that one come back, too. I'd like to see any good .60-.90 size WACO kit, preferably a YMF or UPF version.

RE: Discontinued Kits
No posts in a while well I'd better start the ball again. Just scored a GP trainer 40!!!!!!!!!! I'm sooooooo happy. It needs some work but hasn't been flown in 15 years and then only for a few flights. The best part though is I got the plans :-) All I need now to complete the set is the manual. I've been hunting for ages to find the plans but every one that I know who had one threw the plans out when they got rid of the BEST TRAINER EVER.

Oh.....one more thing. If you like the GP Trainer 40 or 60, you might want to check out the Bridi Krafty 60. Basically the same Plane as the GP Trainer 60 as far as I can tell. There may be some slight changes, but my guess is that it is pretty much the same just with a different name. Much like the old Four Seasons 40 Trainer by Bridi which was basically the same Plane as the GP Trainer 40. It is a shame to see most of the good Bridi kits gone from the Great Planes line, like the Kaos Kit, Ultra Sports, Trainer 40 and 60. As I said in my previous post. I don't think Bridi ever designed a bad flying airplane.

RE: Discontinued Kits
My father built a plane that looks exactly like the Bridi trainer .60/GP trainer .60, but insists when he bought it, the kit was called an "RCM trainer." We still have it too- excellent condition and over 30 years old.
