Default 74" free flight glider E-conversion

So I'm finally getting into decent r/c planes..after years of converting crappy walmart foam gliders. Ordered me a magister. Anyway, I saw this at tower: http://www.underarmour.com/ProductDe...&pf_id=1000525 and I think that'd be sweet to make e-power. way better than the crappy 48" ones I've done before. They make a rubberband powered version, so I assume it's reasonably stiff. It'll still probably require the usual strapping tape and carbon fiber rods to stiffen up the wings...but I was wondering about power. In little 48" gliders the wings are easy to stiffen up to the rigors of an overpowered, under-optimized setup. But this one just has me worried. Plus, the fuselage is so narrow, and there's gonna be a lot of motor pulling on it. Anyway, I have a few motors laying around..from 18V rotozips. They;re a little bigger than a 700...rated at 18V. They can pull about 25-30A comfortably, possibly a little more. Around 30,000rpm no load. Weighs about 14 ounces. I have tons of liion cells, so I can offset the overly heavy motor with lighter batteries. I'm thinking a 4s4p(14.4V, 5.2Ah) coming in at 18 ounces should do it. I havent run moto calc for a prop, but I figure 360W (14.4V, 25A) should do the trick. Direct drive. Efficiency be damned..I've got enough cells to make a dozen packs. Depending on how the wings hold up, I might go with a 6s4p pack...(2x3s4p packs in series- charger only goes to 4s).

Weight looks like this:

Plane 1lb 8ounces
Motor 14ounces
Batteries 1lb 2 ounces
ESC (36V 60A) 2 ounces
Receiver 1ounce
Servos 2 ounces
Carbon fiber/tape/control surface linkages 16 ounces

AUW: 5.25lbs

Has anyone ever converted a glider this big? Tips?

-S
