Debris inside Neu F3a motor?
I was turning the prop before leaving the field last week and noticed that the prop stopped at certain point, as if something inside is blocking the gear. If I forced it, the prop could pass that point and move freely. After a couple of free turns, the blockage happened again.
I opened the gear box yesterday, took out the gear pieces, cleared out the old grease and put some new lithium grease in. I did not notice any debris during the cleanup process.
After the resemble, I could not feel the blockage anymore.
My question is what can be the possible cause of the blockage. It seems that the gear box is sealed and debris such as a sand grain should not get there. The front bearing has no play and the front prop shaft can move freely. The same is the motor itself.

RE: Debris inside Neu F3a motor?
I had a Neu F3A motor that would stumble just like yours when I would turn it over by hand. The problem was not solved until it was updated with an 8mm rotor shaft. The early shafts were 6mm and too soft which raised havoc with the bearing. How old is your motor?

Wingster,
Mine was purchased Jan. of 2011 with the 8mm prop shaft. Can you please explain what exactly is happening there?
Todd,
If the debris is inside the motor itself,, how hard is it to open the case? Necessary? There are a couple tiny screws securing the motor cover and looks like some special tools are needed to open it.
Is it a good idea to keep using the motor?
Thanks.

Remove the gear box and check the rotor/pinion shaft for excessive play.
