1600W from 6S?
Anyone have any ideas for a cheapish motor that will give 1600 or so watts on a 6S pack using a 19/20"x 10 or thereabouts, I have a 90 amp ESC. I know the Hacker A60 6S V2 will probably do the trick but it is £180 ($270) in the UK and not exactly cheap!

RE: 1600W from 6S?
Hi,
Take a look here:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ner_Motor.html
I put this motor on a 90 size F3A model. I run this one with a 6s Flightmax 5000mAh 25C battery, and a SS 90A ESC. It run a 17x10 TGS prop at 6690 RPM. The static traction is 5 kg. The in-flight maximum current is 78A. With this config, I obtain a constant speed for F3A program. Good value!

RE: 1600W from 6S?
Hacker A50-16 S motorshave a 4025 stator (weight 345g)and are more appropriatefora 50-size plane, like Sebart Angel 50or Sebart Wind 50.
see: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=11427948
For a 90-size plane, with a 19 / 20 inch prop, probably something a little larger would be better.
The Turnigy SK3 5055 motors have a 4030 stator, and weigh 370g /380g. They give a little more power.
These SK3 motors are made alongside Hacker motors in the same Sunray factory, and are identical internally to Hacker motors
see: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=4209
Next size up would be a Hacker A50-16 L -type motor -these weigh 430g, and use a 4035 stator.
There is no Turnigy SK3 direct equivalent to this A50-L -size motor.
However, this Hacker is exactlythe same motor, made in the same Sunray factory, as:Lipolice LP-4035 (Germany), HYPERION Z4035(e.g. Robotbirds) and BMI SPITZ 80 or BMI SPITZ 90 motor (also Germany). -The BMI SPITZ 90 is the exact same motor as aHacker A50-12 L V2, Kv 345, 12T motor See:http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=11450304
-Just choose the Kv you want, and then go for a Lipolice / Hyperion / BMI /Foxy /Turnigy SK3 /Gens Acewith that KV; They all come from the same factory...
see: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11426913/tm.htm
P.S. The person who runs BMI-Model in Germany, told me that: "... Spitz motors and controllers come from the same manufacturer as Hacker..".

RE: 1600W from 6S?
Had a quick look at the user comments on this motor:
Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 - 5055-430kv Motor
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ner_Motor.html
HobbyKing quote power of this motor: Power(W) 1750 -but HobbyKing can sometimes exaggerate ...
Im Using 16x10 with 6s 5800 = 52 amps static-25.2V x 52A =1386W(-using 4.2V for each LiPo cell; 6S =25.2V; if use 3.7V per cell = 22.2V)
I am using a 18X8 Xoar prop w/ 6S 5000 Turnigy 40c batteries and this is the ticket. Over 5900g thrust at 79A is good for Osires 62"
-25.2V x 79A =1990W
using 6s 4000mah 30c with 80amp esc. pulls 71amps with over 1500 watts on a 17x8 prop.-25.2V x 71A =1789W
So it does seem that this motor can produce 1700, 1900W ... with 16, 17, 18 in props.
-As you know, the Osiris is a 50-size plane, similar in size to the Angel 50.

Just a thought -if you want to use a larger prop
-could use a motor with a lower Kv
-They do this SK3 5055 motor with Kv's of 280, 320 and 430
