I'm toying with the idea of using my nMhi 4.8 volt
2000 mAh Rx pac for the Rx and servos. Then use
a 3s lipo to power a Elictrifly SS60 amp Esc and Rimfire
35- 36 -1200 Kv BL motor. This is all going in a GP Elec.
Cub with Futaba 3115 Servos (3) and a Futaba 2.4 gHz
Fasst Radio.

According to the Great Planes web site, the SS60 ESC does not have a BEC. Assuming that is true, then your two choices for powering the RX and servos is to use a separate battery (as you have suggested) or to use a standalone BEC.

Bob yes it works just fine, use a Y harness and connect your battery to one end and a servo of your choice to the other then just plug it to your RX. I have 2 planes that are set up with a receiver pack, I use the rudder servo with the Y harness to the batt on one and as the other has no BEC on the ESC I use the lead from the ESC with the red wire unhooked,( just for safety reasons)

I know what you mean, it was very confusing to me the first time

OK simplyfied version, not all TX RX compo's apply hear throttle position is different on some RX

using a 4 ch RX as an example JR type

ch 1 aileron servo extention plugs in

ch 2 elevator servo extention plugs in

ch 3 throttle or ESC extention plugs in

ch 4 rudder extention plugs in

using a Y haness the 2 female ends will be used for the rudder servo or ESC extention and the batt pack, the male end will then plug into you RX in the proper place

Like I said that is your choice and both ways will work

example on 1 plane I have 4 motors so each ESC has a BEC I have to diconnect the red wire in the harness of each ESC and power the RX and servo's through the rudder connection on the RX

on the other plane it is just a large ESC with no BEC so I use the ESC lead to the Y harness with the batt pack, I unhooked the red wire from the ESC just for precautionary measures and just plug the male end of the Y harness into the throttle on RX

I hope this makes a little more sence

Thanks again, i'll study it real hard this week end.
I hope to get the servos installed, along with the push
rods. By un hooking the Red wire from the Esc servo plug,
the Rx only gets power from the Rx nMhi Pac- right ?

Correct, this way your don't risk sending power from 2 sources to your RX or servo's, most RX and servo's can't take more than a MAX of 6V or they will get damaged

Thanks, that is what I thought. This way I can
use say 70% of the lipos charge, just for the
BL motor. Also, I will not need a BEC.
