Thanks guys for your help.

This ASP convershion from ST Engines, is sweet. It took all of 5min to transver evertying over.

I got the motor on my test stand trying to make sure everyting is right.

the only othere 4 stroke I have every had was a Satio 2.20 that I wish I kept.

So with an APC 16X8 Im getting 9000rpms wich seems to only be 2-300 short of a stock Satio 1.80.

I tried a 17X10 xora prop and it did not like it at all and would not accelrate correctly.

So Im going to run the APC for a little while.

It just seems not to tune like all my DLE30's as it seems ruff during wot transhions, but it may be still breaking in.

I was hopeing to run a 15X10X3 blade MasterAir screw but Im not sure it can handle it now.

Thanks Mike

Mike, like I said before, what is your carburetor? Are you using the glow carb?

Hey guys Im trying to decied if Im still over proped, or if im just haveing a real hard tuneing this thing.

I have 6 DLE motors and a few otheres of diffrent brands, Im pretty good at turning.

I broke this motor in on a stand with about 1/2 gal of gas with in 2 days. Now I broke it in with a 16X6 APC got around 9k. Worked great, I then put the 16X10X3 Master air screw cut down to 15X10X3 as this is the prop I want to run on my ESM B25 project. I was able to get a steady 7800rpms. Now it was cold out side, 35deg pluse I had a fan blowing fresh air on the motor.

SO I got it installed into the test plane, a simple gaint Spacewalker 82in wing.

The cooling holes are the best you can get with this type plane, its open in front/ and the whole bottom.

So yesterday I took the bird out to the back yard, and started her up. She ran great unitill WOT. I was only getting 6900rpms or so and it just seemed like it could not get on step, it was 41deg yesterday.

I tried adding and leaning the high end a little with no help.

My boy just got his, evolution 10cc gas, and is running it dripping rich, even at wot, it has a smoke trail. Now I do not, but none of my othere gasers have a smoke trail.

So Im haveing a hard time setting the top end, so should a gasser 4 stroke have a smoke trial? Yes the head feel hotter than it should

Yes 20:1 with Shil Utra HP

If any one wants to know. I added some balding to aid air flow. Today I got in 6 full flights. Lean the top end a tuch and I'm got 7200rpm all day long

thus motor is running very very well now. I got a little over a 1/2 gal now.

My petrol converted OS fs120 has run fine for 10 flights or more but suddenly stopped and dead stick landed heavily and was damaged bad.
I repaired it and the motor that previously ran perfectly will not run. I can get it to fire and run by choking the carb with my finger but it stops with the choke off.
I have changed the diaphram and pump membrane and checked every thing. It seems to be starving for fuel so I was thinking of raising the arm on the fuel regulator to allow more fuel.
The arm is at the correct height using a gauge but the arm has some slop in the needle and lost movement.
Any suggestions or thoughts on how to fix this .

Flew today. 20:1 ordinary red oil. 180FS ASP, Walbro conversion with accelerator pump.

I've soldered up the cutout in the butterfly and this has had the desired effect i.e leaner idle. After some tweaking (leaning of idle), she has been running really well

I would like to see a photo of what you did to the butterfly. Thanks

sounds like a wash to me, unless I'm not understanding. I'd too like to see a pic of the mod. Maybe if your transition was too wet & sloppy, but the idle was too fuel-starved to sustain, such a mod could correct that imbalance by allowing you to lean the low speed needle without further starving the idle of fuel. I'm just speculating. But it especially makes sense if you have an accelerator pump like you said. The pump would richen the transition a lot.

Sorry, no pic. I just got my 80W iron, some Yorkshire flux and put a lump of solder on the c shaped cutout. Then flattened it and made it to the round profile at the edge using needle files. The idea being that most of the air runs around the jet rather than straight over it, thus leaning the idle mixture.

Given time, multiple jets, drills, butterflies and lots of tests a better job could be done. It leaned the idle out and seemed to be enough to get what I wanted.

My experience is that pretty much any Walbro WT will run these engines. How well, depends on what time you have.
