Just reran the same prop same fuel on my PAW 06 best we got was 10400 martin

RE: mpjet 061D

Sounds about right in terms of rpm for both engines, the MP jet should improve a little and reach about 12000rpm on a 7x5 prop.

Martin, you found my one gripe with that engine...the needle is sooo close to the back of the prop! Excellent runner though!

George glad it was a wood top flite , had it been an APC "razor blade" would have been a lot worse, and with the carb mount cannot rotate a few degrees aft martin

These are fantastic engines, but like smaller props even though they do better on larger props than some of the other .061's on the market.

I had mine out just this morning, and it was great. Used an APC 7x3 as usual. The model is a little semi-scale D.520 CL stunter I drew up, about 34" span - more than enough power!

OK group not good news, If you want an MPjet 061 has fallen to the electric craze, David Owen has a few left, no more to be made, was doing the e mail thing with Fiery last night and found this out. I was trying to get an exhaust extension, David ordered some no more left or engines to be made have gone the way of the the MVVS 15D and a few other classics
Reminds me of the lyrics of the folk song written by Pete Seeger in 1955 and was popular in the early 1960s, the One done by Peter, Paul and Mary was one of the bigger versions in the 1960s..It was a war protest song but the opening lyrics "where have all the flowers gone, long time passing applies to our state of diesels now
All is not bad new David will the have the Taipan series replica 2.5cc Series 66 replica back in production for spring delivery a few made so far I have one martin
I should have a box of parts today via UPS for a drone 29, hope I can get one up and running martin

Just to clarify, I think that'll be David Burke you're referring to with the Series 66 replica? David Owen should also be starting delivery of his own replicas (of the '58 Taipan 'Redhead') in the coming months, but that's a limited run and can't really be said to be back in production. All good news anyway.

Shame about the 061BB, as it's a brilliant little engine as either a glow or a diesel.

Nice Dewoitine Steve. I envy modellers who can finish a model really well. I can build, but have real issues with finishing.

steve111 01-16-2013 05:53 PM

RE: mpjet 061D

Don't worry Derek, I can't finish them all that well either. About all I can do is try to throw on a flashy paint scheme, make it look shiny with some gloss marine varnish, and then photograph from far enough away that you can't tell what it's really like. I know that plenty of guys (particularly those on the US stunt scene) will spend months sanding with wet & dry, apply half a dozen coats of 2-pack clear gloss, etc, and get a stunning finish, but that's way beyond both my skill and patience.

Steve, you said in the 1/2A forum thread of mine that David Owen isn't confirming the rumor of the MP JET's demise, is that still the case?

You may have gotten a new production item then. The extension I linked to in another thread (how many different threads do we need on this engine?) had a red label on it, and it is made in aluminium.

The mufflers have gone through some changes too throughout the years, I kind of prefer the latest plain coloured one;

AMB 01-22-2013 12:59 PM

RE: mpjet 061D

NEXT ISSUE screw size originals with engine 2 lengths with the extension the longer original perfect fit at muffler front at rear the screws they sent to short for the front can only catch
a few threads about 1 1/2 turns with screwdriver very shallow grab martin

screw supplied 37mm needs to be 39mm they did not take this into account

go up 2 posts ( just above Mr Cox) for installed spacer

Mr Cox 01-22-2013 01:15 PM

RE: mpjet 061D

Yes, the extension comes with two equal length bolts, so the rear one will be a little short. Can't remember just how short it was but I think it would do two turns at least, might break easily in a crash though (and strip the threads in the case).

I think it will be a little hard to find long enough screws, so unless you need absolutely all of the extension, you could grind some off from the extension I guess.

AMB 01-22-2013 01:18 PM

RE: mpjet 061D

will scout around for a 39=40mm even an allen will do martin

Mr Cox 01-22-2013 01:22 PM

RE: mpjet 061D

The screws are regular M3 and can be bought long enough elsewhere. I found a brass one straight away in my tool box...

Mr Cox 01-22-2013 01:35 PM

RE: mpjet 061D

I only had that one screw right now but if you struggle to find some, let me know and I can help you out.

AMB 01-22-2013 01:36 PM

RE: mpjet 061D

Micro Fasteners may have them what is the size 3.5 ? 4 mm ?? they run up to 50mm length martin

AMB 01-22-2013 01:57 PM

RE: mpjet 061D

Mr Cox issue solved can pick some up or get from micro fastners on your muffler on the engine see you have a pressure nipple the plain aluminum does not easy enough to drilltap and add martin

AMB 01-22-2013 02:28 PM

RE: mpjet 061D

Mr Cox All set the screws that came with 37mm -the local Hobby shop has 3x40mm and 50mm that should do it can always cut the 50 but think enough grab with the 40mm
thanks for the offer but solved locally martin

Steve, you said in the 1/2A forum thread of mine that David Owen isn't confirming the rumor of the MP JET's demise, is that still the case?
Hi Dave, I mentioned this thread to David a couple of days ago, and it was the first he'd heard of it. Doesn't mean it's not true, of course.

Oddly enough, MP Jet stopped making the 061BB first time round in order to concentrate on electrics (as I understand it). Then the electric market got more competitive, and the 061 reappeared. Now it seems from this thread that they're stopping the 061 to concentrate on electrics...again. All very confusing.

Are they in production or not? , perhaps one our buds in Europe Mr Cox or the chap in Germany could call them and get the status , right now a mystery martin

OK GUYS Time to clear up the mystery called I Care RC the MPJET 061 D is still in production
Issue with exhaust extension screws you need one 3mm x30mm length and 3mm x40mm length they packed 2 3mmx30 in the package it is too short for they rear
muffler screw can only get about 2 turns, not enough. I picked up 3x40mm at the LHS today and issue solved get a full grab. These are allen cap screws was not thinking
should have picked up some 30mm long also minor issue you need a flat blade screwdriver on one ( the original) and an allen on the other 40mmm length
will change out for allen 30mmm length thus only one tool needed martin

the allen head is 40mm long

AMB 01-24-2013 04:26 PM

RE: mpjet 061D

Well Guys I was WRONG WRONG WRONG the spacer is anodized black aluminum NOT PLASTIC rerun today and quite a oil leak at edge so took a file and had to take a very tiny bit of the top lip
top lip to arc out for perfect it and guess what after first hit with file shiny aluminum that will keep her dry now martin

If not a tiny bit of Coppercoat on the edges

Oh took the temp too 152F pretty cool

A while back, I ordered a 2nd MP Jet Classic diesel from David Owen, down under. He said something about MP Jet making the engines in batches, at random times and you never know which batch will be the last ever.

AMB 05-14-2013 07:49 AM

RE: mpjet 061D

MP JET has the molds and dies may be some time before an other run but do believe it will happen, So when some run off David Owen will have them. get on his list

this has occured before the MVVS 15 is an example regards martin

Post note just called I Care RC Canada, they are waiting for the MP Jet 061D RC , they have the venturi one in stock, spinner nuts in stock, also waiting on exhaust extension
they have on order so they will be made and shipped

AMB 06-04-2013 11:33 AM

RE: mpjet 061D

spinner nuts for PM Jet 061 diesel SUCCESS have 3 on the way from I care RC Quebec no exhaust extensions yet they expect them in this week or next martin
