I would not find it surprising if he simply lost interest in participating, since the majority of projects on this forum have very little to do with extreme speed, but rather fit in the "relatively brisk" category.

ILJ and Der Stuermann both were the focus of some negative comments here. They invested a lot of time here and had almost nothing to show for it. 99% of the guys in the USA who are into going real fast pylon race. If any of those guys, [especially the guys with building skills] were interested in straight line speed....then things would look different.
I can't afford the time or money to go on the pylon racing circuit. There is a lot of travel involved and way more behind the scenes work than keeping a speed plane's batteries topped off. Pylon takes a lot of energy, flexibility and commitment, speedplanes is much more on my terms and low key.
I'm not surprised there aren't more guys interested in speedplanes than there are around here. The club fields aren't equipped to allow it. I'm very fortunate to have a friendly millionaire hay farmer who allows me on his land....right down the hill from my house.

Your right about that, they need a specific PROP JET forum IMO.
