Default Inexpensive Engine Choice for Kangke F3D/30???

I am considering the

TT .36
Irvine .39
and O.S. .32 SX

The Irvine is a bit on the expensive side. Do you think the TT.36 has more oomph than the 32 SX. There's a guy at my club with a .32 SX and basically, I just want to be able to beat him.

Thanks,

Dan

P.S. Don't recommend Jetts and Nelsons. Too expensive.

I don't have any experience with a Thunder Tiger but I, (on the advice of others on this site) bought an Irvine .53 for one of my models and I couldn't be happier. I think it was well worth the extra money. I have an O.S. SX 50 on another model and, though I don't have a radar gun, I think the Irvine will do a number on it. The only dead stick I have had with it is when I ran out of fuel. Can't blame the engine on poor fuel management. If you can fit it in your budget, I don't think you will be disappointed with an Irvine. I will definitely buy another one.

I'd look at MVVS as well, you can get them through morris hobbies easily.

$169 will get you the quickie 40 racing engine, 23,000rpm (claimed) will get your kange f3d ripping that price includes the muffler

if you don't want throttle $150 will get you the GRRT 40 pylon engine with 26,000rpm but you do need to buy a header and pipe for it.

I would look at the quickie 40 engine though, pretty good bang for the buck.

Also, check out the engines classifieds on RCU, I just picked up a never run JETT QM40 for $175.

Go with the TT 36. Its a good engine, and will fit well in the airplane.

If you want a bit more get-up-and-go, bolt on a Jett-Stream muffler. The TT engines appear to have fairly decent sleeve timing that can take advantage of the tuned exhaust.

Default F3D

Just engines (www.justengines.unseen.org) sells a Leo .37 in several different carb and muffler configurations that are fairly inexpensive. I have ringed .37 heli motor that came without a muffler-bolted a OS La 40 muffler right up to it, no mods, put a 9.5x4.5 comp. prop on it and I'm getting 17,300 on the GROUND! That ought to beat your buddy any day of the week and twice on Sundays Heh Heh--WW
