How do you go fast?
Hello, I have been flying for about a year now and am quickly filling my hanger with planes for every mood. 3D, warbird, sport aerobatic... but nothing fast. My fastest plane tops out at about 70 mph (WM Ultimate bipe OS .50sx) I am looking at the WM Aero Pet 50 http://ecsvr.com/abm/shopexd.asp?id=2330 Is this a pattern ship or a speed plane. The thin wing looks like it would be fast but like I am trying to say... I don't know speed. Can anyone recomend a good speed plane that can reach 100-150 mph in level flight with a .50-.55 2 stroke or a .72-.82 4 stroke. By the way no deltas please... they are just ugly.

The easiest way is a Viper or Predator.
The Aeropet looks to me to be the Groovy 50 with a new name. If you look in the Pattern forums there is a ton of info on that plane. I ont think it would go that quick as its not designed for that.

A Q500 is absolutely the cheapest way to get a taste of speed. Any decent 45 2 stroke with an APC 9x7 will do around 110-120mph and that is pretty fast for a small model if you aren't used to it. And they fly decent, land well and general handle pretty well for a fast plane.

You will need more than a .55 but I highly recommend this plane:

I bought this for the same reason you are looking for a fast plane.

A guy at our field has one with a FX61, flies nice but needs real power, I have a new VRDF65 with a reverser pipe that needs to go to work, only glitch will be a pusher prop that is safe to spin in the 20k range, anyone know where one can be had?
