Since there is a VERY fierce rivalry within the Stryker community about ''owning top speed honors'', I hope you understand the reasoning behind the following information; the picture is worth 1000 words, and I really shouldnt even show it, there are some in the EDF community that might try to find my address and deviousely try to get it from me
Motor : MEGA
Prop : APC
Batt : Thunder Power

RE: Speed Freaks Wanted- Over 200 Members already !
I'm looking for an expert on MVVS engines I'm only getting about 14000 with 10x6 APC.on 10% nitro. I had an old SuperTigre that would do that with the stock muffler on.
My question is ..What can I do to get my speed up?
I am going to switch to 9x7 APC and start there.

The .49 in the pic above? The broken prop may be the issue...
But really... the .49 is not timed to be a speed motor, it's a grunt motor. I would start with a smaller prop, a 9x7 would be a good one or even down to a 8x9. Then shorten the header a bit and check the R's, you'll be looking for the point where it comes on the pipe. It will be very noticable and the R's will increase dramatically when it does..

RE: Speed Freaks Wanted- Over 200 Members already !
OK thanx. I thought single blade was the way to go for speed!!?????
That was the result of bad landing, she needs high rate for the flare
They sent an 8x9 with it but I though that would be too small.they also told me it was a screamer, and I wouldn't have to tune the pipe, it was pre tuned.
The only worry I have with a higher pitch is, will it take off from a hand toss?
I'll start with 9x7 and tune the pipe in.
Will the pipe length change change with different props sizes?
Thanx Andy

HI Chris,
I work in Asheville, where are you flying your speed ship? I'd like to come and fly sometime after work.
150 out of a Sundowner might be tough but they do look good. Give it a try!

Indeed I am.
Here's a pic of your bird at the rally. I even checked your pics above to see if it was you at the rally.
Yeah the rally is a gas but once a year is as much as I can pull off and keep it a quality event.
We need to hook up after work one day, I really need a place to fly close to work.
Good show joining the brotherhood and smoking it at the rally!

Get ahold of BobHH here in RCU and pick up one of his planes. The orange one I flew was a QuickShot. I flew it in perfect legal 424 shape.
If you want to try your hand at racing pm me your email addy and I'll add you to the Southern Pylon Racing Association (SPRA) mailing list for the next race. I would recomend trying Quickie 25 or Club 40. For Q25 try the BuckShot or Viper. A little faster than your Sundowner and turn a whole lot harder.

Well at the expense of my engine today Ipulled off 127 mph with my sundowner today. Motors cooked, tached it at 15,800 with a 10x7 on 15%. I will find a new motor for this bird now, so more to come soon.

Hi My name is Kirk, and I'm a speed plane addict.
I've been flying a Cermark Alleycat/Jett 90LX combo for about a year now. I've radar'd it at my field at 138 mph into the wind and 151 out of a dive, wind behind me. Lady luck has bestowed a brand new Jett 90LX BSE on me. I need ideas on a suitable airframe. Would like to at least match speeds of alley cat. Whats the conscensus? I've entertained World Models Voodoo Mustang, Little Toni, Midget Mustang..but am looking for the AHA! suggestion.
Thanks guys

I'm not aware of too many ARF planes out there that will go much over the 150 mark other than the Magnum. That said anything over a Jett .50 would be a waste since you would need to add so much weight to the tail to get it balanced.

What about the Great Planes Revolver 40? Would this stand up to a Jett 90LX or woudl it require too much reinforcing?
