Winglets - SFG's what have you - are a Blast! I made a pair from 2mm ply using the photos in this thread and it was a definite improvement. I attached a carbon strip on the bottom which touches the tarmac sometimes on landings, the ply is still intact after 6 months.
Low KE passes are possible, if it gets hairy you know you have a lot of rudder throw and some throttle to pull out
Go for low wing loading and you will get ear-to-ear grin every time

I agree the Axi 5320/18 is a great motor but I have 2 of the Eflight 110's sitting here. If 110 isn't enough I'll go Axi but the plane will be flown on 8S only as I have a lot of 4S 5000 batt I use with 6S 5000 in series for 10S on several planes.I have 2 50cc size planes on 12S so when I use my 6S to make 12S on these I need a second plane to carry to field on 8S to use my 4S. I think the Funtana will be a great all round free style aerobatic flyer even on slightly heavier 8S setup. For this plane I'm looking for exactly what the name says...FUN tana.

Looking at getting the Funtana 125 - will use DLE 20. Can anyone comment as to how this plane is in wind vs the Funtana 90 which I have? I find the 90 does not like wind. Likes to baloon on landing. I do not fly 3D but like the way this plane flys.

The 125 has a thinner wing, and can handle the wind better in my opinion. I hold back my S90 for 10mph or less wind, have flown the 125 in 15 mph winds that are steady. I think an experienced flyer could probable handle more wind than I can.

I didn't have time to go through the whole thread, so I'm just wondering of those of you who went with the DLE-20 how the vertical pullout is? I'm looking to keep mine light so that's why I'm considering it over the DLE 30 which IMO looks too big for this plane.

I have a RCG 30 on mine and it flies great with unlimited verticle at 1/2 throttle. Had a RCG 26 on it for awhile and it only flew it OK. I think the DLE 20 makes more power than the RCG 26 so it should be fine.

If you keep it light (around 4 kg or 9lb) with a broken in DLE-20 and 17x6 wooden prop at 9.500 rpm you get unlimited vertical.
I swapped the alum LG with carbon, used a 10 oz fuel tank and hit 4 kg exactly

OK, Gents>..I am running a SAP180HP 30cc gas engine in my funtana 125 and it comes in at 9.5 lbs ready to fly. Lots of throttle management needed as the 30cc is way too much power, but great to fly. Rudder and elevator servos are in the rear position and everything balances at mid point. It does want to drop the tail on approach to landings, but I like it.

Those are a bit heavy for the tail, need to use something around 40grams or less for cg issues as I have the plane running on 6s and a Hacker A50-12L. 2000 watts of power easy.

I had 3-fail while on my Funtana......vibration from a plane must kill them....
Futaba states they are only to be used on cars...boats...??
If they are working well for you than, that is good to hear.... as they are reasonably priced and give good torque...

anything but plastic gears..you can buy MKS servos with titanium gears and tons of torque for 35.00 but on a funtana 125 pulling lots of torque nothing but metal gears..

Im thinking Hitec 5245MG or the 7775MG that I am using in the ailerons now. Could move the larger 5645,s that I have to the ailerons to compensate for the weight of putting the 7775 in the tail if I go that route. Thoughts?

WOW, I just discovered this forum. I have the S90 and love it. Out of my 8 planes it is my preferred...
So much that I just almost redid the whole plane, new covering and trims, new engine OS 120, new cowling( used the one for the 125 since they dont make the S90 anymore), new landing gear, new tank and lines.
It is an awesome plane and now I plan to keep flying it for years to come

I got my 125, but it may be couple weeks before it gets started. I did weigh it,5lbs.5oz. without tank and motor mount since I'm going electric. Thats 1 lb. lighter than my 30cc Yak55M (Goldwing) was. The rudder and elevators are smaller than the Yak,especially the rudder but I believe the ailerons are larger. The 125 claims to have 1108 sq in of wing which is more than the Yak. We'll see how they compare in flight. I had hobby shop order me the SFG's for 125 to help the rudder out some.Hope they don't hurt the flat spin performance.

If you are thinking of the Hitec 5625, you may also want to look at the Spektrum 6020. A friend has them and loves the near zero dead band and fast response. They run around $50, but he says they are noticably better than the digital Hitecs he was using. I fly with the Futaba digital, metal gear 3050, which are nice but I think there are now new and better alternatives.

I have also found this plane will easiy handle a 15 MPH wind. But on landing it will not stall on a cross wind until almost at a stop. Sometimes I will put in a click of down elevator when landing, which helps force it to settle in. A fellow at our field does every type of 3d with a DLE 20 and it has plenty of pull out, though I don't know what prop he is using.
Strongly recommend reinforcing the gear and upgrading to Carbon Fiber gear.
