Yellowing issue anybody here back from Horizon with what Horizon is going to do?
Yellowing issue anybody here back from Horizon with what Horizon is going to do?
Received my shipping label from Horizon this week. Stripped everything out of it this evening and packed it in a box.
Its sitting in the back of my van waiting to be dropped off at UPS tomorrow morning to go back to them.
Its going back to the attention of Chris Brown, aka. Charlie.
After the product develpoment team disects it. they will get back to me.
I just hope the plane arrives to them without being crunched.

RE: New Funtana 125
I see that the HH web site shows the Funtana 125 is out of stock and might be available mid sept. Maybe this is a sign that they are trying to correct the yellowing problem. So far I have been lucky. No yellow. But mine are only outside for a short period of time while I fly. I have been out 3 times this week for about 3 hours each time.

They will not be able to "Fix" the yellowing problem unless they quit painting the graphics on it. It's the same problem with white paint then clear over it, it'll turn yellow.

On the phone, they told me that my plane would probably be disected.
They would peel off the covering and cut it up to do whatever they do with it.
Whatever the outcome, chances are they would send me another plane once they were done because mine would be taken apart.
Maybe they plan to checkout other stuff after a season of use. Who knows.............

Clear coat on white (or any other color) paint for automobiles does not turn yellow. What is the problem? Wrong type of clear coat on the graphics.

The graphics are printed on very thin clear film that is overlayed over the white Ultracote.
A friend of mine in the Graphics industry said it could be one of 2 things. Either the clear film, or the adhesive used to stick it to the Ultracote is not UV stable.
Causing the yellowing that we are seeing.

RE: New Funtana 125
Recenly there was a TV new segment about American companies not being able to get products from China due to issues with the shipping companies, which have had a drop in volume and may be selectively filliing their containers, leading to the September guesstimate. Horizon is not alone. Check out Extreme Flight, for example. I believe most of their planes have been out of stock for months. That being said, it sounds like Horizon has an issue they need to address if they intend to continue with this overlay paint scheme process. While I am not partilcularly concerned about my Funtana, I would not buy another Horizon product that relied on the same process.

I know the shipping delay was there before the yellowing issue was brought up to Horizon. I've had mine on order for a couple weeks now, says Sept. 4th will ship.

That seems to be the deal with many of the RC plane companies. I think EF sold out of the 78 Inch Extras in a very short time, and I would have bought an AJ Slick from 3DHS if they were in stock. Even mainstream H9 planes like the popular(I assume)Ultra Stick has had limited availability for friends of mine.

Looks like I'll be running a Zenoah 20cc in my Funtana now... just got an awesome hookup from a great guy at the local field. Just need to throw a new crank in it and ready to go. The 1.08 will have to go in my Ultimate whenever I finally decide to buy it

Got a confirmation email today that the Funtana arrived at Horizon and has been logged into their system.
Now to wait and see what the verdict is

RE: New Funtana 125
Would someone please help me? I need to know if the F125 landing gear would fit the X100. If someone happens to have both and could compare specs and bolt spacing, I would appreciate it.
A flying buddy of mine was helping me retrieve my plane the other day and grabbed it by the gear on one side only - DUH!!!! So naturally, it cracked.
Or if someone has Funtana X100 gear that you would like to sell, please PM me.
If I cant find, any thoughts on the Graphtech gear vs TNT?
Thank you.

I have the Graph Tech and like it. Don't know about TNT, but aren't they a dealer for Graph Tech, not their own brand? I had the TNT aluminum gear on another plane and thought it was well made, but heavy. It is my understanding that Graph Tech uses the same gear for all Funtanas - 90, 100 & 125.

I have a graphtech gear and its awesome. Its a touch lighter than the stock one and a good inch taller for those bigger props.
And yes, they sell the same gear for all three Funtana variants.

RE: New Funtana 125
Thanks guys for the landing gear suggestions! Even though mine is the X100...I really love the Funtana! As you can see my covering scheme is "inspired" by the F125. If I ever put this one in; it will be followed up by the 125.
