H9 Christen Eagle II ARF props
Hey all-
I've always loved the Christen Eagle, and was ecstatic when H9 released their 90 sized version. I built mine in accordance with the manual, except for choice of throttle servo, battery, and propeller.
Running the Saito 1.25 is the biggest 4stroke glow engine I've had, and I decided to run the APC 16x6 prop as opposed to the Evolution as suggested by the manual. Has anyone ran this engine with either prop? The smaller Evolution props I've had (12", 11") seem very flexible, whereas the APC seems more firm. The APC is a heavier prop, and shows no mercy when the airplane is pointed straight up and heading out of sight. I did have to trim the spinner to get the APC to fit as it has a wider blade root than the Evolution appears.
Aside from weight of the prop, is there any other pros/cons to this set up? I haven't seen any reviews on this specific bird or set up so I'm at a stand still at the moment to compare with others. For those of you Saito users... are there any other props you would recommend? I fly this airplane in a scale manner, knowing I'm not trying to torque roll or hover.
Thanks
Donivan

It's a personal preference. I've used APC props for years and have been happy with them. They seem to provide good thrust and they're durable. The con is they're not exactly scale-like. So if that's a concern, you may want to use a prop with a more traditional shape.

The performance with the APC was very pleasing for sure. I don't know if H9 is just peddling the Evolution props or what... but the APC definitely has a wider blade... grabbing more air.
