Also let us know how well the 4* LG holds up. Last one I built I was able to get the LG from FGS where I also got the cowl and canopy. On one of the 56 pages it's mentioned that the gear that was bought from FGS was the wrong size and FGS had quit selling them. Another source for parts like that would be nice. How well did they fit? Width was the trouble with the FGS gear. The set I got from them was perfect but that was a few years ago. If the 4* gears fit correctly and are strong enough that would make life a lot easier.

RE: Goldberg Extra 300
Okay, Show & Tell time. Another new C. G. Extra that is ready to join the herd of Goldberg Extras in the world. It hasn't had it's maiden flight yet. We had 60 degree weather here in southern Iowa two days ago, but I didn't have all the 100's of little things adjusted and checked on the plane that it needed before the first flight. Now that she's all ready, there are four inches of snow on the ground. I did fire her up in the garage to get the needles set, purrs like a kitten.
It came out to 9lbs. 4ozs. It would have come out to 9lbs. even, if I would have left the pilot and wheel pants off. But a plane can't fly without a pilot, and I paid good money for the pants so they were going to get installed. I had trouble finding a landing gear that suited me, so after searching the good old internet I gleaned enough information that I managed to cobble one out of carbon fiber.
The engine is a DLE 20. Hopefully, this engine works out decent on this plane. If it does then I already have next winters project planned. A Goldberg Ultimate with another DLE 20.
Now just waiting for a nice day, then I can find out why everyone loves this plane.

I like it!! I like it a lot!! I leave the wheel pants off until after maiden and trimming then I install them. For some reason I tend to booger them up until I have landed a new plane a few times. That and the lake bed is rough and has clumps of dirt clods on the surface that tend to scratch them up.

RE: Goldberg Extra 300
I finally flew my extra 300, I had personal issues with my tt.1.20 , but we finally get along.
A perry pump gave me a hand.
The airplane flew as expected , easy with not bad habit. I managed to do some rolling circles , well , to be fair , they were kind rectangular....
Regarding the 4*120 LG, It works perfect and looks neat, but you need to make some changes in the fuselage, not big deal.

RE: Goldberg Extra 300
I finally was able to make a decent aerobatic fly from my extra 300. This airplane +TT. 1.20 make a great combo, I was able to pass from taking off, straight up, to Flat Spin in seconds. WHAT A THRILL!!!, knive edges, hammer head, rolling circles etc. It really makes me look better pilot than I am.
I even lost a tire without consequences, I used flaps and landed in a coin.
I got 8,800 RPM , using medical castor Oil and zero nitro, head gasket removed ;80/20 and 15*8 Tf. Prop

RE: Goldberg Extra 300
Dang your post makes me want to get mine out and go fly *G*, but the weather is still not quite up tp par just yet, but getting better everyday I think????
20 yrs ago weather had no effect on me and flying but time and worn joints plus a back thats held together with loose screws makes a diff *L*
Anyway glad to hear that your having fun with the plane, like I have said before I will always have one in my hanger, its the smaller plane that thinks its a 50 CC.
Good Job, hope you have many more flights as well as this one went.

Now you can begin to understand why we think so very highly of the CG Extra's flying ability. Hope you enjoy flying her for a very long time.
