RE: LARGE SCALE F1 OUTBOARD 'ELECTRIC'
Hi Phil
You could strap the ESC to the motor - they say it's water proof - You could wrap the ESC unit in a Balloon to add to the water proof integrity.
Which ever way - you will have the same overall length of wire from the batteries to the Motor.
I dont know if its best to keep the 'short' output wires - and rather longer battery input wires ( ADVISE FROM THE BRIGHT SPARKS PLEASE)
I know it best to use Thick wires with low resistance and good 6.5 mm plugs.
Batteries in the sponsons could work - I will start with mine in the center so as to be able to move them around to play with the CG.
Regards

RE: LARGE SCALE F1 OUTBOARD 'ELECTRIC'
Shortest wires from battery to ESC,my understanding is because this distance always see the ful voltage but from esc to motor can see smaller voltages so the greater resistance of longer wires isn't always at a peak as it is from esc to battery.
My reasoning might be wrong but shortest wires should be from battery to esc

Hi Madphil
Our boats are vacuum laid up Gel coat - bi-axial cloth. Deck colour optional.
Has all flotation - radio box and transom/sponson reinforcement built in - bonded and trimed.
Goldenduff - thanks for the advise - make good sense.

MHZ e-Zdrive was a prototype , and for a short while also for sale on the website.
You'll have to ask Ernest why it's not there anymore.

RE: LARGE SCALE F1 OUTBOARD 'ELECTRIC'
Hi Hendrix
Your info has been VERY informative - besides - I'm drooling onto my keyboard - that motor looks awesome.
Cost a few Euro !!!!
I enjoyed the build forum - its a big boat - yet got some good speed.
Love to see its potential trimmed our properly.
many thanks !
I cant wait to see one of our hulls - 'quietly flying' Stealth like !
Regards

RE: LARGE SCALE F1 OUTBOARD 'ELECTRIC'
Hi Mick
have a look at what Hendrix has shown. This thread is really delivering the info desired.
That boat weighs over 11 kg's and knocked up 85km/h - first run.
We could put a 8 kg boat on the water - trimmed out - with the Enigma Leg ( prop set back - CG foreard) the straight line stability will be far better.
I reckon 100 km/h will be a bench mark with these bigger motors.
10 laps at 30 seconds a lap = 5 min required run time - more than doable with 2P battery packs.
If you have two sets of packs with some charge time between races - your in business.
I am tied up at the moment completing my RC Surfer R&D - once thats done - I will get to do the FE F1 O/B Build
Really Looking forward to the projects this year.
Regards

RE: LARGE SCALE F1 OUTBOARD 'ELECTRIC'
Hey Dom, fantastic thread, next boat I build will be a FE F1 tunnel as well, not sure if I'll go quite as big as a 1/4 size, but very interesting read none the less
I see you have a slow connection to RC UNIVERSE as well Clicking several times on the send button (referring to your multiple double posts) HAHAHA I see you must be a racer, trigger happy at the get go [8D]

Hi Seehuusen
Welcome to the thread - thanks for joining it - Im happy to see that it has inspired you.
In Truth - our YPC hulls are more 1/5th being 1085mm in length - 1/4 scale in most cases is just a 'phrase' for the bigger F1's
I dont know if my upload is slow - I thing RC universe needs to 'upgrade' the system - many guys have started sites elsewhere due the RCU poor operating performance.
Hey - I get to say some things twice....................................LOL

RE: LARGE SCALE F1 OUTBOARD 'ELECTRIC'
hahaha, I hear ya (x2 LOL)
Yeah the performance is pretty bad for me too, I came here because of the Tear Into thread, but everyone on here seems dead on

oh your thread has absolutely inspired me, I really enjoy working with fiberglass, so I am actually contemplating buying something smaller like a 1/10 F1 Hull, play with that for a bit, and copy for a bigger setup I cannot believe how fast these things fly, amazing! Yours may just convince me to go all out LOL (I would be interested in hearing about the total cost, EP F1 Hull, motor, batteries, esc, etc minus radio gear from you when available)
I'll be keeping an eye on the project as it comes along Top notch mate

RE: LARGE SCALE F1 OUTBOARD 'ELECTRIC'
Hi Seehuusen
Fait has brought you to the site.......................................
I did consider a smaller build - its been done /proven and is cheaper - BUT - from my experience - the smaller boats limit the option of water conditions.
The bigger hull handles the general chop and wind better- and hey - we are Guys ! ..............................Bigger is better.............................LOL
We do sell the boat and leg - Mail me if you need prices - but it would be best to purchase the electrics from the original supplier to benefit the lessor cost and be assured of the warranty.

RE: LARGE SCALE F1 OUTBOARD 'ELECTRIC'
question: your saving yourself 500g with the electric setup, could that possibly mean an even bigger setup? I'd like to see electric beat gas if at all possible (at the same weight and price, give or take) .... yet... I'm sure technology will get around a few hurdles over the next few years and produce even more power

RE: LARGE SCALE F1 OUTBOARD 'ELECTRIC'
Electric has already answered that question squarely - its the FASTER boat
Most 26 cc type Gas boats will run at an average speed of 85 km/h - The electric cost equivelant should get you closer to 100 km/h
The set back with electrics is getting the combination correct to prevent 'failure' and the limitation in th erun time.
As you say ' CURRENT........LOL technology is improving these issues every day
By comparison 'The Two stroke' is becoming HISTORY every day.
Go Big - Go FAST ELECTRIC - make others GO GREEN............................................. ............................

RE: LARGE SCALE F1 OUTBOARD 'ELECTRIC'
Hi Guys
Just to give an update on what has been keeping me busy - away from the forum.
Besides the usual F1 component orders.
I have finished the rc surfer proto - type (really enjoyed the project)
Vid of flat water tests below - original surfer - still need to film the surf ridding.
Our Bro surfer is a flexible construction so that he does not break in the surf.

Im off on vacation to Sun City for a week next week - when I get back I will be setting up my all new GREEN MACHINE -HVFE - ( high voltage fast electric)

Hi papatoon
that was awesome to watch.
We are working more towards the BIGGER F1 boats - but seeing you run these FE's in the middle of town is very encouraging

Hi Dom,
I really like the color you chose for the new builds. Have you got a motor mounted to a leg yet?? Looking forward to seeing what you come up with on this one. Are you going to go both IB and OB?? Keep us all posted,
Cheers,
Dion.

Cool, very fast.
The shore line looks very unforgiving. One mistake and certain destruction.
This is what I have been dealing with so I want to find a lake and really open it up and see them really fly..
Very Nice..
