RE: KingTech K-80
All you need is a couple of servo extensions the extra lenght you need. Grind off one side of the plastic of the male end and it fits right on the mpx cable secure with tape and your done.

Billy, Great flying and great sounding K-80. King-Tech had a target in sight when they were developing the first engine and they hit the bullseye Square in the center and continue to do so, everytime they release a new one. I can't wait till they come out with a 44 gold size turbine. I'm saving for it right now. Ha. Ha.

Yepwhen it comes to Electrics Stu has his fans right on target as well and it looks like Jim is rock solid with the Vip. Ha. . Some of them even sound like turbine. Ha. Yes-I have an airframe sitting by ready to go for a King-Tech 44 Mil engine. If they came out with one along the price of their K-80's it would simply blow the top off the market. They would not be able to make or ship them fast enough. You need to grap Hiller by the arm and you and him come on down to First In Flight this year. LoL.

It will make 19 to 20lb at sea level.

What is the thrust of the k80. Clicking on the distributors on the kingtech website, some have it listed as 17.5 and others 19. Which is it?

RE: KingTech K-80
my 80 has been on the shelf for about 8 months while I was "working slowly and painfully" on my F-86 so I decided to mock up a test stand today and run it to make sure everything was OK before mounting it inside the jet and For some reason I am not able to get the fuel primed.
I can hear the pump running when i hit the button and there is fuel in the tube before the pump but it is just not going anywhere. I even put my fuel filler on it and forced some fuel through the pump while in prime mode and still nothing?
I know that is not a lot to go on but any suggestions would be grateful

Not really, at sea level I was having a hard time starting mine, she is cranked up to 2.1 on the glow and I can kill a plug pretty quick

I've never had a problem starting any propane turbine at 280' ASL, plugs last yrs, if you're blowing them you've got too high a voltage (different plugs use different voltages) or you're damaging them pulling the coil out (they need to be preheated first).

RE: KingTech K-80
Are you using propane or powermax? I have 2 K-80e with around 10 hours between them and still using the plugs they came with. Almost instant lights on propane with a regulator. Would suspect you need to adjust your gas percentage too much or not enough gas will make them hard to ignite.

RE: KingTech K-80
My K80 F has about 8 hours on it, 63 cycles (according to the FADEC). Other than some minor adjustments to the start settings needed when it was new it has worked flawless until this past weekend. The start sequence went fine except that instead of idling around 44,000 it was idling around 62,000. The idle was not eratic, just too high. I shut it down and let it cool a bit, checked all the obvious stuff (fuel filter, fuel lines etc.) and found nothing wrong. I then restarted and all was good, good start with consistent idle around 44,000 RPM. Is there any thing else I should check out? Is this normal or should I be concerned?
Thanks for the help,
Tom
