RE: Maj. Woody's Fei Bao L-39
Yes, we upgrade some JL to our Global Jet ARF PRO version. We do inspection and request upgrades and improvements on FB jets. We only do inspection, test flights on new FB planes, and issue engineering change, construction improvements, to FB. FB is very good in following our requests. The specifications of FB jets that we sell to USA are different due to different customer's flying behaviors. Our USA version tends to be stronger and heavier while European version tends to be lighter. We have discovered that American pilots tend to put oversized turbines and fly much harder, so several key areas need to be reinforced. Regardless, FB has been stepping up to the plate and be very helpful in resolving some failure issues quickly.
I had also evaluated this L39 failure issue and concluded that it's a damage inside the fuselage during operation of this L39. FB won't be able to cover that warranty. Normally they will cover the warranty if there is a failure inside the wings, or tail fins where users can't get access to for inspection. In this case, it's a clear case that there must be a crack or pre-existing condition that caused the failure. I am sorry for the loss, but we must look it each case carefully and be neutral about each incident. I think we don't have conclusive evidence to suggest that It's the quality problem from the factory. There could be many factors, not just a hard handing, that could cause this failure. This L39 is one of our most popular jets sold around the world, and it's been proven reliable and well designed. The dynamic causes of any failure are too complex for us to really make a conclusive closure without full blown investigations. This is cost prohibited and only be doable for full size, not models.
Thanks,
Mike

Just want to reinforce the value of buying through GJC as the service is top notch.
If anything isnt how it should be then they're prompt to organise the needful without delays.
You know how these chinese arf's are like, missing bits and pieces are the norm or lack of detail in instructions.
I would only buy another jet from GJC, i've dealt direct before.... what a nightmare.
Thanks guys!

Couldn't be better. Just got my second jet from Mike and Cindy.
Never a problem and the first jet the L-39 is a top performer.
Very satisfied with my choices...

Guys, I have the new stab design, and no instructions []
Do I have to glue the stab in the fuse or just use the bolts ?
Thanks guys.

i just used the bolts, they lined up perfect.
I used JR DS 3401 servos in the elevators. Let us know what you plan to use, they're small enough and expensive enough but at 4.6kg each i think, I'm concerned they're not enough. Anyhow i've had a few successful flights and they seem fine but i didn't try anything spectacular.

Got mine today!!
I guess mine is the latest version. The ducting is 120mm diameter to accommodate the new larger diameter EDF units. I ordered a Schuebeler DS-77-6745-700 (120mm) and it fits like a globe. I'll post a link to the build thread soon.

RE: Maj. Woody's Fei Bao L-39
has anyone else had cracking of the gelcoat paint on the top side of the wing above the retract.
I have a hairline crack in the paint but the underneath carbon fiber looks ok.
I've only had a handful of landings in this jet, all have been fairly good nothing that one would think was rough or hard.
Debating wether to cut a big hole in the undernearth to review further and repair or if im just going to make a big mess.
Perhaps the wooden structure which the retract is mounted too has seperated from the carbon fibre supports inside.
At most this is all i can see, perhaps it just made the paint felx and crack.
Any ideas guys, thanks

Mine still in the building process and I noticed a bump in the same area you mention. I need to take a closer look to see what's the deal. Specially if is like that now I know after a couple landings it will start cracking the paint. I believe is the landing gear formers pushing the fiberglass a little bit. Is more noticeable in the right wing. As a precaution I will reinforce the area anyway.

Where do you guys place your refueling connectors? I have a quick-connect style connector and I taught if I placed it inside the jet, some fuel would spill into the fuse.
I'm thinking placing it on the side of the jet but in case of a leak the fuel might be sucked straight into the turbine through intakes?
Here are some pictures of my build so far. Coming together slowly but surely.

Where did you get that lighting system? I have been looking for a scale lighting system like that for my 10Ft Hostetler Cessna 152!

Not sure if you are asking me or Megafly about the lights. My lights were Luxeon emitters and the control board was custom designed by a local flying buddy.
