RE: Skymaster Ultra Dragon
Hi Anton
I really like your idea, we had our first Aerobatic class in our Jet Nationals last year October and I have been toying with doing my own Aerobatic jet, however I think it would probably be far easier and cheaper to purchase one.
I have been flying a 1,9 meter Futura which has performed exceptionally well, if I could change my Futura I would want a slightly longer tail moment and more wing area.
I have some suggestions for your Ultra Dragon.
A longer tail moment or more area on your fin will help with tracking.
A fuselage strake or keel underneath will also help with tracking (ala Sebart Avantis)
Anhedral on the stab will have the same effect as lowering the stab which will help with knife edge coupling.
A wing span of 2.5 meters will help with increasing wing area.
If the wing trailing edge was straight or swept slightly forward it would move the Center of pressure forward which in turn would make the tail moment longer.
Perhaps you could offer two wings, the wing you have drawn for someone who wants a every day sport jet, and a slightly larger wing with less sweep for guys wanting to fly the aerobatic class.
I also think some form of wing fence or wing tip (SFG) will help with side area for knife edge flight.
I think as soon as the class gets its first wold championships the jet design will start moving more towards something resembling a F3A pattern ship. There is no reason why a jet cannot be designed to fly like a F3A plane and still have the sleek sexy lines of a jet.
Good luck with your venture I will be watching it very closely as I am looking for a new jet for the F3S class.
Regards
Neil Collins

RE: Skymaster Ultra Dragon
Hi Anton,
Placing a slightly smaller horizontal tail at bottom of fuselage like in the Flash will improve control response and reduce drag and weight required at the nose. Turning the wing tips up as winglets will reduce vortices and improve flight envelope. Good luck with this project.

Thank you all suggested,
i think the weight for Ultra dragon (painted with the nose gear door) should be 16kg around.,(35lbs)..[X(]

Trailing link gear is great for this plane . Is the engine hatch in the same place as the dragon smaller type ?

RE: Skymaster Ultra Dragon
Hi, all
Today i made two maiden flights with Ultra Dragon.
There was flameout due to UAT empty during first flight. After inspection of UAT,
I made nay maneuvers test during second flight.
I feel there is still much room for improvement design of Ultra Dragon,
not just enlarge the size of small Dragon.I will consider all contributed opinions,
like making tip thicker and enlarge area of stabs and fin. We’ll also add spoiler for air brake. I will continue more test flights and improvement including changing wing foils.
Regardless of other factory, Skymaster will not neglect the testing of Ultra Dragon over and over until i am happy.
SM will get new Ultra Dragon reach its extreme flight characteristic. Please keep concern on further news. In next days,i will test ultra Dragon with another new designed wings again soon.
here are Video for Ultra Dragon maiden:

Hmmm.... Wouldnt mind a nose change.... I just think the dragon nose area isnt sexy enough.... Been looking at it gow awhile but the fuselage lines just didnt do it.....
