Top Flite Giant Corsair ARF Disappeared.

The mechanical gear door set up is from Capt. G's illustrations. A little adjustment here there and it should be good to go. The Corsair was stripped and glassed by JSZ (soon to be painted as well). I will try to fly it first with the stock elevator and rudder linkage before making any mods. Thanks for the tips.

Here is another twin that is worth considering. The D&B engines 3.7 (61cc) by Ridge Machine. They also make a 5.1. The 3.1 is 9-9/16" across the plugs with the 10mm plugs. It weighs 5#. You see them mostly in the IMAC arena and they claim they are powerhouses for their size. I'm going to use the 3.1. Worth a look anyway.

I built mine by the book also with no problems. Great flying model without any modifications required. Great job Top-Flite.

Which engine did you install?
Did you put it through its paces, slow and fast?
Thanks,
Chris

RUDDER SLOPPY ?
I was not happy with the sloppy rudder control after I installed the rudder, to much flex in the neutral position. I removed the rudder and covering around the rudder arm. The rudder block is soft balsa material.
Even if you glued it in properly, after pressure on the rudder it would make a larger hole in the soft balsa. I purchased a new rudder from tower and put thin ZAP Ca in the hole to make the soft balsa block
hard as a rock, like bass wood, as it should have been.
I also added a brass tube over the rudder control arm before installing it in the rudder block.
I get no flex at all with this installation. I also loosened the torque rod clamp 1/4 turn to allow the servo to center easier
Hope this helps

Picked my Giant Corsair up from LHS yesterday and ordered the DLE 55RA today from Valley View. Plan on ordering the Robart retracts next week and still pondering the air versus electric option? Those who have installed the electrics, are they working out OK? Like the idea as I have never gotten much reliability out of air units. Thanks for any info!

RE: Top Flite Giant Corsair ARF Disappeared.
Just got mine together since buying everything in October. The 55RA will be a little different to install as the plans call for the 55 front exhaust. I put the 55RA in mine. Wasn't to difficult. Looks great. I installed the Robert electric retracts, let me just say, Amazing! Works great every time and they are very well made. The tail wheel is too cool! I did purchase the Robart 5 spoke wheels for the mains and a Sierra Tail wheel. I sent them off for powder coating and they look awesome as well. Overall good arf, I did have one issue. On one of the outer wings there was no thread to bolt he wing on to the center panel. Called Customer Support, they were awesome, sent me another wing set no question asked. Good luck, this arf takes time to do right.

Thanks for the info EMB145Driver. What's different about installing the 55RA, is the bolt pattern different from the 55 side exhaust? Looks like the Robart electrics are not in stock at the moment but should be soon. At the rate I build, that's not a problem as I seem to stretch a build out somewhat!

Yes the bolt pattern is different. Other than that no biggie. I thought Robart had a 10% off sale on the electric retracts, I'd call them and see if that was still going on. The retracts are plug and play, just be careful to how you set them up electrically. Follow the instructions as I've heard of other guys burning them up by plugging them up the wrong way. By the way, my rudder assembly is fine. No slop what so ever. :-)

Good to hear on the rudder issue. I've read all the threads and was going to give that and the elevator install extra installation attention. I'll give Robart a call Monday and ask about the discount, 10% is big money when you're buying that set, thanks!

Thanks again EMB145Driver, just ordered the retracts online and saved almost $70 with the discount! Good start toward the other items needed to get this bird in the air.
