Well it seems to be all good. just some of the tips of stripping have come loose 1/4" or so the upright rudder wing moves a little but holding. Overall frame seems tight and strong motor mounts and landing gear just needed a touch tightening. Pics look orange but its red/ black with 1/4" yellow stripe
the only thing worry's me is rudder thought of like trying to angle gluing it from out side

I don't see your name on the list.
Larry K
Hello Larry K,

I do not qualify for membership in this fine group of people.

I have built many models similar to a Kadet but did not have that name.

For me anymonoplane with a high wing fly much the same.
We read many fellows writing about their preference but rarely do we read any reason for their statement.

My aim for such a model is flight balance at a throttle stick half way and some light degree of positive stability in all three axis. This can be achieved with any high wing monoplane.

Advanced aerobatics is best done with a different type of model airplane.

Zor

Does my kadet senior qualify? Powered by a Saito 72, it has only been shot down once, by, of all things, a buzzard. Flown regular since building in 2005, I learned to fly r/c with it and still prefer to fly this plane over all others. I'm too old to for much 3d or stunt flying due to poor reflexes and even poorer eyesight. I have other planes that I seldom fly but added an electric 42b in 2009 that gets used regularly.

Sorry about that. I'm only adding folks that specifically ask to join. As you can see we have other people posting that may not want to be members.

Gary, may i join ur great Kadet brotherhood? I am currently rebuilding a 15
year old Kadet seinor or should i say Kit bashing!! It is now called the
K3-WARLORD Ive made it a Tri-engine! It has 2 48fs's in the wing and
a 52fs in front. It is fully lighted, Taildragger, has opperational bomb
drop and rockets, also has hidden opening bomb bay door in bottom of
fuse that i use to drop parachute men. Its done in p-40 scheme. I will
post pics asap. I dont remember how many Kadets ive had through
the years. Just got done putting Kadet senior arf on floats 3 flights so
far.

Happy flying and building,
Ty

This is all the story about the day my Kadet was attacked by a buzzard. I had been flying for about 20 minutes and a buzzard approached my plane. I moved away and started my approach to land. The buzzard, I guess was lonely, and followed my Kadet nearly to the ground. Just as I started to flair for the landing, the buzzard had other ideas and actually caught the plane by the wing. Plane and buzzard came to the ground, but the buzzard finally realized that the plane was not his type, and flew off.
The actual distance from contact to the ground was about 2' and there was 1 puncture, I guess by a claw, on the top of the left wing. There was no visual damage to the buzzard and he didn't stay around for a sobriety test so we can only assume that he was trying to depart as soon as possible to avoid further humiliation.
The plane flew the next day but the buzzard was nowhere in sight.

Oh, the stuff we wish we had on video! lol... I think that would be worth the top prize for AFV! haha. Hilarious. So no structural damage to your plane other than the skin puncture? Impressive.

It was so close to touchdown and I killed the throttle as soon as the buzzard attacked so no other damage. The buzzard surely couldn't think it was breakfast (roadkill) because it was off the ground. He may have been trying to mate but he sure was colorblind as the plane is blue. You're right, I would love to have a video of the whole episode.

What exactly is "kit bashing"?  I've heard a few people on here mention it.  Googling, it seems like it's combining different kits together, but I've heard it as meaning flying your plane very hard, too... they call it "bashing" when you do free-style flights like flying under picnic tables, between trees, belly-landings/take-off, etc...  Or sometimes I hear it referencing just making custom mods to a plane, lol.... do we have an actual definition of what it is?

t4 here...I'll take a #.

I wanted to build a Kadet Mark-II as my first build but was talked out of it by my instructor. That was 1988. I look back and don't know why. For that reason I still may build one in the future.

In the mid-'90s, I built an LT-25 and flew the covering off of it—literally. But that's another story. It was my go-to plane at that time. An OS 40-FP pulled it around , and it sported the venerable ole' Master Airscrew 10x6. That combination was awesomeeconomical, powerful, responsive, perfect! I even took some winnings at a couple of fun-fly events with this bird. It was a quick build, just to get something new in the air that year. I enjoyed it for a couple of years before selling it. As a club instructor, I taught a couple of guys to fly using my LT-25. Alas, I watched it fly away, never to be seen again one fall afternoon. I heard the fellow who owned it at the time yelling out, "I don't have it, I don't have it." With the wind, it traveled straight and level, out of sight, south, parallel to I-95, on her way to Florida, I presume.

Currently I have a Kadet Senior in my hangar—the Daketelon. It’s a Decathlon / Kadet mash-up. My late uncle Walter built her in '07. She is highly modified with a semi-symmetrical wing, flaps, modified nose and tail group—a spectacular machine. Additionally, she has bomb drop capability, and the Saito .72 up front is a good match for the airframe.

In my room-o-goodies, I've got another LT-25 kit waiting for its turn on the building board. It will be a modified built based on the design of another modeler I found years ago—sleek, rounded, and less boxy. Yes, I'll have a build thread.

I have heard it from a lot from guys like myself who will build a kit and can't help making their own modifications here and there while building.

Case in point: I have a habit of adding a little triangle wood where the sides meet the firewall to reinforce the attachment. I did this one my Kadet LT-40. On my TF Cessna 182 I didn't like the sideways fuel tank so I'm using four 4oz tanks connected in series to give me forward facing tanks in the same amount of space and adding 4 ozs of extra fuel. In my SIG J-3 Cub (1/5th scale) I built a box firewall to allow the installation of an old Blue/White box Saito .80 without affecting the profile. I also substituted Robart Cub Gear for the stock kit gear. See a pattern here? All these examples qualify as kit bashing.

SIGN ME UP GARY! I have a LT-40 and the Senior and Senorita are both on my short list!

You're welcome. We have a red tailed hawk that we regularly see at the field and on occasion, he will follow a plane, but so far, he has never caught one. The hawk never followed a plane to the ground like this buzzard did. The only other bird incident we have experienced at the field of late is an extra 260 ate a bluebird for breakfast, but that is another pilot's story.

mmmmm taste like chicken

Bad form but I couldn't help it.

Only bird incidents I ever had was flying control line when I was a kid. Darn pigeons would startle when we took off and fly across the circle. Never hit one, but it was like a flying mine field.
