I'm bending dogbones at the wheel?  Earlier in this thread there was something about shock travel that may be causing this?

Well something broke.  I no longer have power to my rear wheels.  I'm pretty sure it's going to be the diff, when I spin one wheel they both turn in the same direction instead of opposite directions like normal.  I'm hoping it's a screw or something, it doesn't feel like it has any broken teeth by spinning it but I guess I'll find out when I get around to opening it up.

The pinion going into the rear diff needs to be shimmed. Or, you need to put spacers in the drive cups at the rear of the tranny and the drivecup that goes into the rear diff. Before tearing apart the diff, try using the spacers first. It will save some time.

That was the problem, The pinion moved forward.  Is there a part number for the spacer or just use whatever washers I can find laying around?

There are no parts to buy that can fix it. Do what i did... I put more spacers in the drive cup that goes from the back of the tranny and the drive cup that goes to the rear diff. It will tighten up the play within that area, thus keeping the pinion from sliding forward away from the ring gear. You can buy the foam spacers for the truck to put in the drive cups, or use small pieces of nitro fuel tubing.

Ok, I saw the foam spacers but I wasn't sure if they were the correct size or not. I'll pick some of those up.

Yea, they look like they wouldn't fit, but they do. When you put the spacers in, put two spacers in the drive cup at the rear of the tranny, and one spacer in the drive cup that goes into the rear diff. You want the dog bone to push the rear drive cup/pinion into the rear diff.

Sounds like a plan.

They are on order, should be here in a few days. Now I just need to replace the servo, change the shocks and pick up some different tires for it.

I upgraded my stock steering servo to a Futaba S3010. I think its $30? Good servo. I haven't touched the shocks on mine, but I have upgraded tires to Pro-Line Badlands. Stock GT-2 tires suck.

For the outshafts, I created my own spacers by cutting up a neoprene cup warmer, its thicker and feels more durable than the stock foam spacers.  I've since received some of the o-rings that can also go in there, will try them next time.

Ihave read lots of people saying upgraded shocks give better handling, that and Iuse this thing for jumping and while it's designed to bottom out it bottoms out way to easily. The shocks that are on it do very little absorption.

It will be my last upgrade but it's on the list.

Have you tried adjusting the preload adjuster to compress/stiffen the springs on the stock shocks?

I have mone about half way down the threads. Seems like good balance.

Mine are half way down and I put in 70wt oil. It has eased my concern for some stiffer springs, but I would probably get some stiffer springs if I knew of some that were a good fit.

I am wondering if the plastic shock caps may pop, like they have on our Stampedes (now replaced with aluminum caps).

I think mine are around 3/4 of the way down.  I'll double check it and try them at 1/2.

I got a question for you guys... I haven't had to many issues with mine or my son's XS's.. But now there is an issue with my son's, it has full traction and then it starts slipping. Do you guys have any idea what it could be?

T9, are you talking about the tires traction slipping? Need more elaboration, or are you talking about when you hit the throttle, it has power to the gears, ad then looses "gear grab"?

Got the spacers in and adjusted my shocks to 1/4 - 1/2 spring.  The shocks seem a lot better. Unfortunately one of the axle cups split in two so I was only able to run for about 2 minutes.  I'm getting irritated by this little truck.  Now to decide if I want to stock up on the stock ones or invest in some hardened steels.

I wouldn't get irritated by the truck. Parts break, it's part of the hobby. You have to remember, the stresses are far greater in this truck since a 1/10 brushless system was installed. HPI has compensated for this throughout the truck, but you can only make things so durable. I have only split one drive cup as well. If you read the manual, it says to repair any worn drive cups, as they may break randomly. Yours had some wear as well as mine. You could also get CVD's to get rid of the dog bone/drive cup.

I know parts break but this truck has had more issues than any of my others.  The cup broke after 2 packs, I hardly consider that worn but maybe that's just me.

Well, it also depends on how hard you drive it too. If you are hard on the throttle, the slop between the drive cups and dogbones will create a big amount of stress.

It slips in the gears, sometimes it grabs and runs fine than it will start slipping... I think I found the issue the motor shifted just a tad causing the pinion to slip and miss the spur.
