Sept may not be a good choice for potential Colorado participants. There have been Warbird events in Pueblo and Denver metro the past few years. I haven't heard firm dates for this year. The Love-Air Jet rally has been in either Aug or Sept. the past couple years.
You didn't list the runway size but I assume it is a light plane field.

Good morning
Jet Rally is 2 weeks following the WOTR (Warbirds Over the Rockies) event (Sept 13-15). The field will still be in excellent condition.
It is Friday, Sept27th and Sat, Sept 28th. Open flying on Sunday, Sept 29th.
Thanks for your support. See you this summer!

Ok, we are going to shoot for October 4, 5 and 6th. Weather in October is usually the best of the year with highs in the mid 70's and lows in the high 40's. Winds are usually the calmest from September through November 1st. If we have another Indian summer like the last few years, it will be beautiful. I've applied for my CD certificate and will immediately post details after I get that back and the dates approved by AMA. This will be our first one in MANY years, so bear with us. We'd really like a low key, fly-in type jet rally where everybody gets to exchange ideas and fellowship. We have 10 jet pilots here in Lubbock and most of us are fledgeling jet pilots. We'd love to see you there!! Will post info as we get things together.

John, there seems to be many pilots out there willing to come to jet event here in Lubbock. Do you think we need to get together with our event people to put a proposal before the next meeting. If we are going to have an event this year we need to start some planning as soon as possible.

Ok gang, the T-38 jet rally is on! We voted on it tonight and everybody's excited about getting it restarted. The dates will be October 4, 5 and 6th. We are planning on it being an informal "fly what you bring" type meet. Very relaxed and fun. Jets, turboprops and EDF's are all invited. I'll post more details as we get closer.

To those that are planning on coming, could you give me some ideas on what you would like to see? Any turn ons or offs that I need to watch out for. Like I said earlier, this will be a very low key fly in just to get everybody in our area back on board the jet modeling train. I do know there will be a few "newbies" who will have this as their first fly in so it'll be nice for the seasoned veterans to lend a hand for them. One of our members dads's trailer/chuck wagon will be doing the cooking for lunch and we'll probably have a big, but laid back, Saturday night dinner at our house similar to the ones I sponsored at our pattern meets a few years ago. Everybody here's looking forward to it. Hope you all can make it...

Haven't thought about it yet. I'm still waiting for the regional CD to approve the dates. We are also going to work on the runway repairs to keep FOD down. We have a very large Warbirds over West Texas meeting on Labor Day weekend so we'll just fall in line with what they do. Perhaps our CD for that event will pop in and comment. I'm learning by following these guys...
We have very little traffic and mostly from one flight school. Besides a notam, we alert them directly which almost stops any air traffic.

If you do a NOTAM. - Which I think you should.
Make sure it does not close the airport.
I have CD'ed several jet events and what has always worked for us was this for a Notam "no student training and no touch and go's. Must establish two way comm at lest 5 miles out. Model aircraft event at airport"
I know Mississippi Notam's their airport closed 9am to 6pm for the Afterburner Event but they really aren't supposed to do it that way.
We are planing on flying down for the event. Looking forward to it!

Don't worry, fellas! The airport will NOT be closed. This field have VERY LITTLE full scale traffic. It hangers just about three or four aircraft and has no aviation services what so ever. Not even a bathroom to stop and pee! The NOTAM posted by the airport manager lists high RC activity at the site for the days planned and reiterates the protocol of full scale flying parallel the length of the runway and announcing intentions to land. We will have someone monitoring a scanner for any communications. We have had many events at this field including some anticipated full scale, full stop landings. The biggest thing to note is that we just don't hardly have any traffic at all!

There's not much for lodging in Abernathy proper, however, there are lots of reasonably priced hotels/motels about 25 miles South of Abernathy, in Lubbock on I-27. Please check out our Warbird website - www.westtexaswarbirds.com/Hotels.html for a complete listing of several close by and reasonably priced hotels. The hotels are on I-27 which is a direct shot to Abernathy going North.
We are really looking forward to hosting this event - it's been a long time since we've had much interest, and are expecting a good turnout, and good flying weather.
Hope to see you all there!!!!
Regards, Jetjockey

Tried to load a picture of my new (and test flown) Modelbau F86 Saber Dog, but failed to get it on the previous post. Hope this one works. I'll have it at the jet meet, assuming nothing bad happens between now and then as we tweak it. Great flyer, and really goes on a Jetcat P70. Had to make a few cosmetic mods to satisfy my scale obsessions, but it all worked out, and am happy with it! Covering is Coverites' Black Baron Chrome Presto, and the decals are from Callie Graphics.
Enjoy!
