Andy,
Have you got any more flight on your Fokker. I hope to get out this weekend with mine. The rain here is finally starting to go away and our field is starting to dry out. I will give a flight report if I can fly the Fly the Foffker this weekend.

You can adjust the stab incidence to help correct the climbing issue. That is sometimes done on the full scale Fokkers. Raise the front of the stab a bit, maybe a couple of degrees for starters. Then see how it flies.
Many full scale WWI planes require lots of forward stick to fly level. The wings generated a lot of lift. Of course the plus side was when attacked pulling back would result in a sharp evasive maneuver.

I hope to fly mine this coming weekend. This will be the first flight since I corrected the upper wing incidence. If it still climbs I will try to adjust the stabilzer incidence some to correct for it. I'll post a flight report after the flight.

Just got back from the field today and this is finally a great flying War Bird. The secret to this plane is to get the top wing incedance to -1.5 degrees and have the CG at 4.5" from the leading edge of the Top Wing. This plane flies like a big trainer and with a DLE-30 and a 19x8 prop this plane takes off very quickly and lands like your first trainer. I did not get any video today but I will fly it again this weekend and this time I will bring my video camera.
I know this has been a real job to get this plane right, but I am glad I stayed with it. This plane looks so good in the clear blue sky with a few white clouds around.

Got 6 more flights on my Fokker last Saturday and this is becoming my favorite War Bird. Sorry still no video but I hope to get some soon. The take offs are a thing of bueaty and the landings have been all 3 pointers. The DLE-30 has more than enough power and I fly around at 1/4 throttle most of the time. Very nice rools and large loops
If you have this ECOMRC Fokker are planning on getting it please do not give up on it. Get yourself a wing incidence meter and get the Top Wing at -1.5 degrees. Also get the CG at 4.5 " from the leading edge and you'll have a wonderful flying WW1 War bird.

RE: ECOMRC Fokker D-VII
Nice plane Jim, I haven't had the luck to fly my plane yet. I've been out to the field with it twice, and both times I had some kind of
problem with the engine or the wind picked up to much for me to feel comfortable with a maiden flight. I did want you said, and set
my incidents to 1 1/2- on the top wing, and the others are set at 0. I hope it fly's as good as yours. Thank you for your reports and
updates on the build of the plane. Its guys like you how make this Hobby well worth the time and money we put into are planes.
Again I just wont to say WELL DONE & THANK YOU Charlie

Mr. Magoo thanks for the nice comments. I would really like to see some video of your Fokker when you fly it. What engine did you go with?
Lifer,
I will consider the 20x6 prop if i ever break the 19x8 that is on the plane now.
Thanks Guys and flly well!

Hey Jim, I went with the DLE-30 just like you, and ya I am going to take some videos of it on its maiden flight. Hope everything
turns out alright. Did you ever check your incidence on your engine. I put mine at 1 degrees starboard and 2 down.

Mr Magoo,
Looking forward to seeing your video. To answer your question on the engine I did not do as you did. I just mounted it to the firewall but I did put add 2 degrees right thurst. I fell with the 1% down thrust you have on your engine you will not need very much down elevator to keep her flying striaght. I do have about 5 clicks of down evlvator on mine.
I had a 18x8 prop on the DLE-30 when I did the maiden flight but I find I like the 19x8 prop better. Just a little FYI

I finally got to fly my plane. It was a hand full to fly. It took all my down trim to get it to even be half way flyable. I got it on the ground without any damage, but it was way out of
trim. I set my plane up just as you all did. The only thing I can tell is that my incidents is off. How did you guys set up yours. I have the hanger 9 digital incident gauge. I did set
it up at 11/2 - incidents on the top wing and everything else was set at zero. Were did you (0) out your gauge at. I could use some help with this one.

The lower wing should be 0 to the flat part of the fuselage with the canopy off.
The top wing should be - 1.5 to the bottom wing.
The landing gear spreader should be 0 to -1 from the main wing.
Its still going to climb, there's two high lift wings. You might also throw a washer under the top engine mounts to get a little down thrust

Did you setup your wing incidence as Andy mentioned in his post. That is exactly how I did mine and it solved all of my climbing issues. Put you incidence meter on the bottom wing and set it up at 0 degrees. Then move it to the Top Wing and set it up at -1.5 degrees. You can then setup the little wing between the wheel at 0 to -1 degrees. If your plane is balanced at 4.5" it will fly pretty good with these setting. Good Look and let see your video when you get it done.

I had to reset my incidence. I set it up at the horizontal stab the first time, Big mistake. I set it up like you said and the plane fly's great now. I still have a lot of down elevator ( manually )
dialed into the plane thou. Is this the way it should be. The elevator connection is stiff. Thanks Guys for all your help. If I can ever find some one here with a good camera, I will post some pictures

Glad i found this thread! Mine will be here next Thursday!
I'll be installing an Axi 4130/20 on a 6s8000mah pack! Guess I'll be adding a ton of weight to the nose ;(

Dan,
Please post some pic's of your electric conversion of this plane. I would love to see how it turns out for you. Also remember to double check the wing incidence of the Top wing. Please use a wing incidence meter and make sure it is at a -1.5 degrees compared to the bottom wing. The best CG I found to be 4.5" from the leading edge of the top wing. Good Luck. It is a great flying War Bird and real pretty in the air.
