What happened to here she was at one time on mud Island did the remove her?
[quote]
Moved due to neglect and an outside display. A little urban damage as well .. BUT
Now going through full restoration at Wright Pat in Dayton Ohio. Evrything will be "new" [ aka restored ]
We went and saw her when she was first moved.. sad shape..
Went back 6 years later and .....
Now, it has gone through a vitual full restoration with complete accuracy and attention to detail .... here's a few pics...
You can go see it too.. but you have to sign up ahead of time for a Behind the Scenes tour. Very cool stuff over there! [ Not to mention the full Air Force Museam !]

RE: 1/6th Scale MEMPHISBELLE
I have take a vacation from the plane for awhile. Just really burnt out. I have been working mostly non stop for the last year and a half and had just put off my own stuff for way to long. I talked with Cal and have a new finish date of the end of this year. I do have the fuse and all tail surfaces panel lined and will be starting the panel lines on the wings soon. I will post pics when I get back to it.

I have the 1/9th scale. I thought about the 1/6th but you are correct, $3000 is just greedy. The $3500 for the gear is even more greedy. Delivery and customer service is simply a nightmare. Mike has pretty much given up on the planes. The stats just are not there. Most of the planes were purchased in 2008 and very few are complete. You will find many comments like this one. "I have take a vacation from the plane for awhile. Just really burnt out."
Save your money and buy 10 other planes and keep your sanity.
On the bright side. With thousands of $$$ and thousands of hours, you could have this.......
This is the right wing upper and lower. Approximately 50,000 rivets on the wing alone and 140,000 on the plane total.

Hi Memphisbelle
nice work on this Big B17.
I know you fly a Don Smith 1/9 B17.
because i'm about doing the maiden of mine, can you tell me if you balance your model as shown on the plan (27%) ?
And can you indicate the final weight of you 1/9 memphisbelle, she is a great flier !
Thanks a lot for the answer.

I have seen one of these fly on 4 x DA50's. It was not too much.
A very impressive model both on the ground and in the air.

from what I heard Steve changed props from solos to normal 3 bladers, dunno make etc but they provided a lot more oomph. Was it full throttle? No idea but appears in the vid to be going pretty fast. Stab and or elevators started to flutter and before he could back off the stab broke off.
He now has an even larger Catalina flying but a birdy told me a new B17 is in the process ....

I have been back at it for some time now. I have finished the fuse and sprayed it green. I finished the panel lines and surface detail on the wings last night. I sprayed the sealer primer on and will be droping rivets this week.

Wow. It has been nearly a year since those pilots were placed, bet they have to pee something fierce by now! That is some amazing work. Panel lines are the hardest part, especially considering the panels overlap each other and the thousands of rivets needed to put it all together(ask me how I know). Showing that pic with the two cars really shows the scale of this plane.

Different light sources. LED flash, florescent and incandescent. To get the true color you have to take the plane outside. I've been upset once. Won't happen again.

running out of steam
Funny how things travel around. I always wished I'd finished that one. This bomber is putting me into retirement and it will be at Toledo. That's if my wife has not ran it over with the truck and filed for divorce. If that happens I will be living with cal. lol
