Default Duralite Charging Question

Picked up a Jet Central Rabbit that has a Duralite LiMN battery. It has the yellow "smart charger lead" I dont have any duralite batteries or chargers. How do I charge this thing without making smoke? I use CelPro4 chargers.

I used to have one of those batteries. They are 7.4 V and I charge it as a regular 2S Lipo with no problems.

I would find a Duralite brand charger and use that.

I've never heard of anyone using another brand charger for Duralites

Some of those Duralites have built in balancers. Do you charge with two wires or three?

The chemistry on those batteries is Lithium Ion. On my charger it's called a LiLo.

You can use any lipo charger just set the charge rate below 1 amp if charging through the yellow lead or 1c through the power lead.

I second the response by JPP

Also, I believe that Duralite is phasing out (if they didn't already) their old simple (black box) charger. I think it has been discontinued.

When I was charging mine, I just used a normal charger (in my case a Team Orion Advantage Touch charger). Always used the power lead.

With my Duralite Li Ion batteries, I also use the same charger or the Fromeco chargers (Ion Cube and the new Simple Charger 3 channel). No problems.

Don't use the duralite charger for that battery. That charger is made to be used with duralite Li-Ion batteries that include a balancer/regulator. Any other batteries shouldn't be charged with that charger.

If its a Duralite battery and has a yellow lead it has the charge safe circuitry in it. I still use them on my a123s and lions and limn packs with no issues at all.

Default RE: Duralite Charging Question

If the ion the must be charged at 7.2 for two cels or 3.6 one cell ,usually all charges have 3 settings # for lipo 3.7v per cell #2 ion 3.2v per and #3 for life or A-123 3.3 per cell ,do not charge ion is lipo this will over charge the batteries by 0.1v and make the batteries live a lot shorter and the battery will discharge a lot faster it's not the same chemistry than lipo battery .
