instructions for changing the motor in my RC18T ?
Does anyone have instructions or a video for changing the motor on these? I'm used to the larger 1/10 scale where you remove 2 screws and the pinionand the motor pops right out. I just bought a used one and i want to install a brushless setup but it looks like you need to tear down the whole back end to do it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
thanks

RE: instructions for changing the motor in my RC18T ?
look at the motor mount there should be 1 screw on top of the mount and 2 screws on the bottom of the chassis holding it in place remove all 3 screws from the motor mount and it should move around (the motor will still be attached to the mount) then you will see 2 screws holding the motor to the motor mount remove these screws as well (this is where you adjust your gear mesh)
and with a little moving around the motor should come out it is a bit tricky compared to a 1/10 but very doable you do not need to tear the whole rear end apart 1/18s are a bit tight but once you fool with it you will get it sorry but thats all i have for instructions

but remember to get the gear mesh perfect or the spur wont last with a brushless motor . the rear diff may need to be tighten up a bit using a brushless i would go 1/4 back from full tight be careful not to pop the plastic treads in the diff and use some blue tread lock to keep it from loosing up with the extra power

thanks for the tip, i installed brushless and made sure the mesh was good, runs smooth and i can't believe how fast it is, i never expected these speeds from 1/18 scale.

I'm using a hobbywing 7800kv motor and a 25a esc. The motor was getting too hot to touch so i'm installing something a little slower, going to try a 4200 and 6200 and see how they work.

Hey, you should send that brushless motor over my way... I blew the motor in my little MegaPro buggy and cant find a replacement (other than stock, but stock sucks.)

Hobbyking has a couple that are $15.95, go on the site and search for rc18t and it gives a list of parts that fit the car. I just ordered a 4200kv and 6200kv to try. I can send you the part numbers from Hobbyking if you want.
