Default SHADY Advertisers

Dear RC Universe -
The service(s) you use for advertisements are doing bad things with the browser. At the moment, there is actually an ad on your site that redirects the browser to a different website... That's bad ummmkay?

Jason

Ad
Blocker
Plus

Malwarebytes

Problem solved.

Then again I have never once had that issue.

Yep - that ISP survey one is probably the second most intrusive... it redirects to a completely different website and then fires off a popup. Luckily with that one all you need to do is hit your browser "back" button... others are not so "kind" ...

Point is, these are the types of advertisers I'd expect to see from PORN SITES.... NOT a respectful R/C one. It's a major black eye, in my opinion.

By the way, you notice it when you stay on a page for an extended period of time because the ads cycle and eventually will hit the obnoxious ones...

when the only reason you have a forums site is to make money, you accept adds from whoever will pay for them.
no relevance necessary.

Reasonable ads and banners are fine,, but pop ups that take over your browser are not

I can only speak for the one scenario at the moment, and I should have posted this with my original whine-fest... I'm seeing this on OS X v 10.11.6 / Chrome browser. I will test the scenario on Safari and report back. I would assume the behavior is OS-agnostic... I would not, however, expect to see the same behavior on mobile devices. They handle redirects and popups differently than desktop browsers.

And to those who work hard in order to provide a resource like this for the world to use for free, I didn't mean to offend you or trivialize your genuine efforts with my first post. It was meant to be sensationalist and get people's attention. So in that regard, I guess it worked. I do apologize if anyone was offended.

this is the source
view-source:http://www.mellowsurvey.com/?

I redacted the whole link because it identifies my IP

I sent the whole link in a PM

I can send you the html code, but I'd need an email address,, too many characters for a PM

Nope. Still getting that ISP Survey redirect. The goods news is that seems to be the only bad apple at the moment.

Hi guys, we've been getting back to it after the holidays and we're working on the ISP redirect. It happens at random, correct?

Scale, no one is ever here on the weekends. Posting updated info for us to come into on Monday is appreciated, but memes aren't particularly helpful. We are continuing to work on the problem. We think it's an ad network again, since it is effecting a couple of other sites, as well.

I noticed that same exact ad on another forum as well. Thanks for looking into it IBJoel - your effort is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the update,, nice to know it's not my machine

Sorry if I'm a little cynical, I'm used to being blown off after reporting problems.

Good luck
