Today was my first experience with a zenoah engine and I couldn't be more pleased, engine started by hand after 5 flicks, and not too much adjustments after that. Easier that any of my good glow engine.

@tony0707
Starting a stock G-62 is quite easy. The bigger the prop, the easier it is.

Start by mounting the prop so that it meets compression at 11 o´clock. The starting flip has to be initiated at around 3 o´clock so that the magnets have a chance of producing a good spark.
I have linked to a small video of me starting the stock G-62 on my Tri-Pacer, and that is extremely easy.

One piece of advice though. NEVER - EVER!!! place your fingers behind the prop blade when starting, as the engine will kick back until primed enough. Instead place your fingers so you are pushing against the curved back side of the blade, so that when it kicks back, your fingers just slide off.
Using this technique I have never been bitten by either my G-62 or GT-80.

Save your arm, and possibly your fingers... get a good starter. Mag or electronic ignition it always works and if it does not start at least you don't have to see a chiropractor Ain't too proud to use a starter!

I know this is an old thread, but should I change too a electronic ignition. I could get the motor to start with the spring starter, but it seemed the spring seemed to slip, it also would not run without the choke being on part way, and then it wouldn't transition to full power, it is a new motor, probably about 6 years old. The best thing you can ever do for a G62 is to convert it to EI. It takes very little time and improves weight, starting, and idle shake.

Plus 1 on K-Bob's advice. My G-62 with an EI system had been in storage for 6 months. We had a warm day yesterday and I started it. About 10 flips for prime, choke off and 3 flips to start. Wow!

Ok ordered a electronic ignition, and carb rebuild kit, this motor is new but probably about 7 years old, so new diaphragm and gaskets, hopefully this motor will run like aaaaaa new motor
