Default Evolution 40GX Ignition Problems

Just wondering if any of you guys could point me in the right direction or confirm my thoughts....

Ive been running my Evolution (MVVS) 40GX for about 40 flights without problems for the last 8 or 9 months, because of the birth of our baby girl in September, Ive not been flying since then, last weekend, I took out my Inverza 33 but the engine wouldn't start, I had fuel going in but no spark, I checked the battery (tried swapping the Radio Battery with the Ignition Battery / both are fully charged), bypassed the switch but still no spark when the prop is turned by hand, the only time the Plug sparks is when you disconnect the battery or turn the switch off, it then gives one quick spark so that confirms that the plug is ok. Has anyone else ever had such problems?? Hoping it doesn't need a new Ignition Module as I was literally just about to the engine up for sale.

Thanks for your help.

Jame, I have never run one of the Evolution engines but it could be that like the 3W and DA ignitions you need a minimum RPM to get a spark. This is done for safety reasons. It you had the plug out but connected and just moved the magnet past the sensor it may not spark like an RCEXL or DLE unit would. Did you drain the tank completly before storage? The flexible parts in your carb could be dried out. What I would do in your position would be to dribble a little petrol in the plug hole and see if you can get it to pop that way. If it does pop and quits then the next step would be to take apart the carb and soak the soft parts in petrol for an hour or two and the reassemble the carb. Be careful not to disturb the metering lever adjustment but you will want to verify that the metering needle is not stuck on its seat.

Check the magnet, sensor and sensor connectors. Dan.

If it sparks when you turn it on and off it is probably ok. What is the led doing?

Il check those tomorrow Dan, I haven't got the LED connected, there's not a great deal of cable length to play with so it was one of those jobs that I never got round to, the Carb is pulling fuel through (this was an original problem but it is now sorted by stripping and soaking the Carb). I'm convinced that the Ignition is the problem, I tried rotating the prop just past the top dead centre position and it had sparked everytime at the weekend, however now all I'm getting is a spark when the unit is either disconnected from an battery or when I turn the Ignition Switch off and no spark when the prop rotates past the TDC.
