RE: KROMA 100 or 3W 106
I do have a complete motor that I can weigh. Comparing them to DA, 3W and BME is a little more difficult. The weights given by the manufacturers are very difficult to reproduce. So far, every motor we have weighed has been heavier than what the manufacturer has listed.
I think a true weight would be engine, prop bolts, prop washer, ignition pickup and ignition box. I may have a DA 100 loose to compare weights with. Anyone else have any other motors to weigh?

RE: KROMA 100 or 3W 106
Hi
I would like to see the numbers also,,Every new engine is going to be compaired to a 3W 0r DA,,simply because they were first and everyone has seen them run,, Most pepole do not want to take a gamble on a new engine , I have seen the 180 run on stock mufflers and it was real impressive, cant wait to see the numbers when Todd gets the pipes on it ,,

RE: KROMA 100 or 3W 106
Thanks Rob for the offer to come up there and fly. Id be more than happy to one weekend when I dont have to work. I have been seroiusly looking at a 3w, but if you are right about the Kromas having a power edge over the 3W, then thats the route Im gonna take. I just have one question. On the DA and 3W, the cylinders are offset opposite from each other, which screws up my cooling baffles. Do you know how the jugs are oriented on the Kroma. Thanks.

RE: KROMA 100 or 3W 106
I'm sorry for the delay everyone, hopefully this weekend we will have some numbers. Randy David, one of our sales reps, will be bringing his Extra 330 with a 3W 106 TOC that we can get some direct comparisons with. We also have a BME 110 and a DA-100 here to throw into the mix. Todd Blose, our other sales rep, will be also be coming. He is prototyping some headers and canisters on a Kroma 180i. I'll get some numbers from it as well.
Anyone interested in seeing the motors or just having a good time flying are invited to come. We have a new runway, covered awnings, and setup tables just begging to be used! If the weather holds, this will take place Saturday, December 10th at the Mt. Pleasant Club. http://www.clubnetrc.com/

I may show up out there Saturday. I would like to see all those engines. I would also like to compare my DA with yalls. My DR Extra is temporarily out of comission, but I can still run the engine on it. Ill bring my Sukhoi and my friend will bring his EF Yak and we will have a good ole time.

Which model of 3W106 are you using? There are presently the regular model, the blue cylinders and the Q series.
Thank you, Yves

Question about one of the planes on the KROMA site. The picture of the fellow hovering the 40% Extra in the pits- if you click on it it gives you some more pictures. I would have sworn it was a Carden but one of the pics with the cowl off shows that it looks like a composite- what plane is this?
