Tomy send more! Larry's got his whole shipment sold! He brought one out to the flying flied today, this looks like the best motor you've made, if they're all this quality Larry won't be able to keep them in stock.

The crankcase is CNC'd, looks polished, the cylinder is a very nice casting, the whole motor felt very light, and turns over very smoothly. This is NOT your average Chinese engine, DA and Brillelli will be the competition for this engine, not the other Chinese engines.

Thank you Mr. Chen. I'm impressed! You're using a Walbro and not a home grown product.

I'm really looking forward to the 106 when it comes out. I wish I had a need for a 50 or 57 to give one a try but I have three 50cc engines already.

I'm shocked that it spins the 24x8 that well. Very impressive.

Im shocked that it doesnt have a better muffler and mount. Which company started the stand-off fad?

Must have been DA. 3W tells you to avoid them if at all possible in their manuals. I have a hunch better mufflers will becomes available after a few engines start getting ot the flying fields. Likely someone will send a factory muffler off to J&A and shortly thereafter a better muffler will be there. Perhaps even Macs would get to making them.

Kweasel, With the rear carb and rear induction it is the best way to mount the engine. Also it lends for the space between the firewall and the muffler to be more for clearance for the muffler to firewall. Why complain about the muffler, it comes with the engine
at no charge. It it does not fit your needs spend $115.00 to $125.00 for a Bisson or slimline.

DA started that muffler design,i have no complaints it's light and not restrictive.

Everyone has unique standards. It is irresponsible for a company to sell a loud muffler in a populated area, it would be better if one was not supplied at all. Why won't the new companies incorporate a sturdy mounting base that could accept a cone or plate? Those stand-offs are very heavily loaded considering their length and stance.

yep,but what else are you going to do with a rear induction engine.if you make them shorter the carb will be in the engine box and harder to get at carb.all of the engines that i have mounted with a rear carb i needed that long stand off to get the prop hub just outside of the cowl. so your damm if you do and damm if you don't

Actually you do not need those long metal stand offs for a rear induction engine. I just mounted a 100cc RCGF using home made wood blocks that are a heck of a lot stronger and permit zero twist. Each is 4" wide and about 2-3/4" deep. Total weight for the pair is 5.5 ounces and I could have easily shaved off another 2 ounces had I felt like it.

Make your stand offs differently to brace them against torsional motion. As Pat says, use wood dowel or square and brace them. Dick Hanson uses square maple blocks, then joins them with ply to brace the structure against lateral and torsional motion. That's the way to go to ensure a rigid structure.

You get the standoff for free so if you don't want to use them you don't have too. The price is right and it looks like a great engine with US support.

I wasn't bashing the engine at all or the support. It does look like a very good product. I was just pointing out that the typical aluminum stand off arrangement is not very good structurally and that there are better ways to mount the engine. I will also note that this is not unique to this engine, some of the premium, high-dollar engine brands also promote the aluminum stand off set up and it is no better on those engines despite their higher price tags.

Edit - But the anodized aluminum stand offs do look very nice. Way better than wood, despite it's superiority for this application.
