Default 1.60 FX w/Jett Engineering Muffler? What should I expect?

I made a muffler for this engine to pull my GP Giles around. At first I used about 7 inches of 1/2 Flex tubing. It would only turn a TF 18-8 at 7,200. I then made another with 1/2 EMT that was only a few inches long. This increased the top RPM to 7,900. I still think its capable of more power. Would the JettEngineering Turbo muffler make a considerable difference. Are they really worth 25% more power. I'm using some homebrew 10% nitro with 18% klotz. Are my figures what I should expect with an 18-8. I'm having a hard time finding APC 18 inch props, I realize that should help a little.

One of the things Dub Jett told me when I asked about his Turbo In-Cowl muffler is that the O.S. 1.60 FX responded to it better than any other large displacement engine he tried it on. He want on further to say that this setup out preformed a Moki 1.8 with his muffler on it by a couple hundred RPM.

My 1.60 FX with the Jett Turbo In-cowl Muffler, Cline fuel regulator, an Enya No.3 plug and 10% cool power will spin an APC 17x8 at 9600 rpm! That's actually too fast for my liking and I intend to prop it down this season. I think I'm going to try a Menz 18x8.

One of the really cool advantages is that I get all this power and it just sips fuel. I can't imagine spending all that extra cash on a Saito 1.8 that then guzzles 30% fuel like soda pop.

I'm interested in buying your stock 1.60 muffler if you want to sell it.

Keep 'em flyin'

I'm not really interested in selling the stock muffler at this time.
