DLE30!

RE: NEW DLE30!
Well I finally got my G202 with a DLE 30cc rear intake (was side intake) running about 4;30 PM today. the engine has not been run for 2 months, but it started & ran pretty good. I made a video of it but for some reason the video works on the camera...but not on computer. I am checking the complete install while running. I have just a few odds & ends to improve on. Sure is good to hear that engine purr again. Capt,n
PS...engine is running in the photo!

RE: NEW DLE30!
Capt'n,
Have you ever flown that Giles? If not, you're gonna like it.
I used to have one with an MVVS 26 and tuned pipe. It was one of the truest, on rails type of plane I've ever owned. Wish I hadn't sold it now...

RE: NEW DLE30!
Has anyone ever tried a 20x8 on the 30?
I've got an NX and a Bambula that are just hanging on the wall doing nothing, but I hate to drill em if they are too much prop.

RE: NEW DLE30!
I'm looking at this CMP model from NitroPlanes:
http://www.nitroplanes.com/extra300s140.html
and I'm thinking it would be a good fit for the DLE-30. I was originally looking at the DLE-20 but then after reviewing the comments on the DLE-20 and model weight, this configuration would not do any 3D. Also, a forum on this airframe states that it comes a bit tail heavy, so you need something upfront, so why not add power instead of weight. According to the specs, this plane has a 73" wingspan and comes in around 11 pounds.
Any comments or thoughts on this setup?

RE: NEW DLE30!
I don't have experience with the CMP Extra 300 but I do have the CMP Yak 54 140. I'm running an MLD28 which is heavier than the DLE 30 and I needed a bit of weight to get her balanced. The DLE30 will fly your Extra, I don't 3D so I can't speak to that aspect of the performance and what you can expect with the combination. Make sure to go through the model and check all the glued joints because they are known to come loose under stress. I totally love my Yak and I have no doubt that you'll love the Extra.

EDIT>>> This is a test of the use of my new Test stand....Love it. It makes it easy to see everything without crawling around on the ground! Also a test of new pull-pull throttle...using carb spring to pull back...works great! The engine has a Frank Bowman Custom piston ring and I would recommend that for many engines.

RE: NEW DLE30!
I had one with a Brisson 2.4 was kind of a pig @ just over 14 lbs. Might be better with a lighter engine, double check all the adhesive you can get to, mine was a little light.

Yes, I found it loads the engine too much. It performed better with the 19x8 or 18x10.

RE: NEW DLE30!
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with the throttle sticking? The throttle shaft seems to have a spot that when the engine is running it hangs up and has to be manually forced back to the idle setting. If I goose it back and forth it will unstick itself but will hang up again as I advance it slowly and try to return it to idle.
The shaft also seems to have a lot of side to side play in it.
I guess I will have to send the carb in to Tower but was wondering if there a Walbro out there that will work?
Red.

RE: NEW DLE30!
Red, how long have you run that DLE30 with the spring unhooked? Also I was wondering how much linkage mass do you have that can vibrate in sync with the engine? That may cause the carb throttle assembly to wear faster.
The thing I like with the pull-pull method I have on throttle there is no weight in linkage to viabrete...just a nice steady pull the spring creates. Not a strain on a standard servo with a 1 inch arm on carb. When I hit the throttle kill button on TX ...the line goes limp & throttle shuts engine off. I like it. Capt,n Done will spell check Viabrate?
