Tomy, thanks for both links. I read a lot about engines & engineering that went into them. I have read good reports on most all engines you deal with. Keep up the good work. Capt,n

If they accurately copied the old 3w-70 it should run pretty darn well. It could be a good choice for 1/3 scale Cub/Citabria/Decathlon type aircraft.

RE: MT70CC TWIN
DID your engine arrive today? mine did and with a few very minor exceptions ,,which ill explain later,,id like to compare notes with you and see if you notice things,, overall first impression clean neat small well made ,and just a small amount of cowl trimming to fit,,this is all being stated.4 hours after recieving ,im in the process of mounting and fitting ,and had to make 2 inch hardwood standoffs to put it about an inch past my cowl, like i like it to be on my yak..

RE: MT70CC TWIN
channels norm53 is where youll find some run videos,,after i got the carb loaded up,,it takes about 15 flips ,i flipped on the ign,,after 5 more flips it coughed 3 more unchoked and it started ,i let it just run about a minute ,and was very impressed at the accelleration ,of a new motor,,i purposely shut it down and richened a bit ,,im using lawnboy at 40 to 1 regular unleaded,,without choking it started right up instantly ,,onlt one adjustment needed so far ,nothing came loose ,failed or misperformed, this engine pulls hard ,responds fast smooth as hell even being still tight no leaks its nice to see that prop tracking straight and the output shaft running true as well ,no bearing play whatsoever,so go to you tube and click on channels type in norm53 and youre there

53,That sounds real good, what plane did you put it in.Are the heads going to stick out of the cowl
and whats the all up weight of the engine.I know it's to early to tell what RPM's your getting, what kind of prop are you running.

RE: MT70CC TWIN
hey closet,,, the plane is a china made plane it got for 200 .00 from some mfg,i found through alibaba,,which is a search engine for all sorts of stuff,,of course i had to reglue every joint in the fuse its decent and even has a tunnel for a canister,,,,,, ok now for the weight ,,lets just say this i didnt weigh it but it still took a small amount of lead ,,up front to balance ,the plane and if you were standing behind the plane you can barely see the plug cap sticking out 3/8 of an inch,it not ugly,,also one could trim about 1/2 inch off the exaust tips to make it easy to install the cowl,,the only thing i have to do to r and r the cowl is pull the plug cap and it all comes of and on easily,,so it weighs a hair more than the 57 cc and i did remove most of the weight used with the 57, im guessing i have 5 or 6 ounces of ballast as opposed to about a pound before, this motor tosses a 24 a vess like nothing ,i dont have a tach but as ive said before id rather have big thrust than big rpms and i got what i wanted .,im sure the rpms are there just listen to the vid sound,,it sounds right,i just dont have the actual rpm numbers to provide

RE: MT70CC TWIN
Ive got plenty of ground clearance, and room for a 26 a if necessary ,,ps ill be contacting you directly mr tommy very soon!!!! and for the gentleman who asked the question on determining when a motor this size would be called for in a 50 cc plane,,my answer would be ,,,when you want more power and want a smoother running engine,,,,,,,ever notice after about 10 flights on a new plane ,you say to yourself,,i wish i had more power??? then allmost all of us use weight ,for balance,,i say why not add more power at a minor weight gain or not because the weight can now be removed, and,i personally know when to back off the throttle if necessary, and the larger prop hepls in braking on downlines which is a win win situation..

RE: MT70CC TWIN
If it weighs around 3.5 lbs. i don't see anything wrong with a 70 twin on a 50cc plane,as long as it is not hammering the plane to death.
IMO i think it's about time for a twin that will fit in a 50cc plane that will put out as much or more power as a 50,there might be a place for a 70cc twin in a 30% plane.
If you can't use it in a 30% plane,it will probably not be popular,to small for a 33%?

RE: MT70CC TWIN
This engine is design for 50CC class plane for bigger plane like 33% 100CC class. I already design the BIG BLOCK engine . lamost same weight as 100CC engine but 50% more capacity . sure it's more than enough for 100CC plane . [8D]
