Hook up plane to Pylon race???

Just thinking, which would be the easiest and cheapest plane to build, in order to get a lot of people to have weekend fun racing at their fields (And from there getting them attached to pylon racing and maybe escalating to 424-428-Q40...etc.)

Is there any very simple plane design with foam wings (better if not planked) to have almost any engine on it and being able to race with your buddies at your field.....and if you crash you may have another one very fast and for very few bucks to keep on playing.

Now that lot of people is switching to 2.4 ghz systems, these would be a great use for old 72 Mhz Receivers

I was thinking something like the planes used at RC combat or SPAD but for pylon racing being able to use any old regular 40 size engine (or .15 might work as well) any engine almost every RC flyer have one sitting on their workshop.

Any idea or pic of a plane that might mit these KISS criteria will be highly appreciated.

Regards.

A fuselage like this might do it, but any idea on how to be able to use foam non planked wings???

How are RC Combat wings build and reinforced for being able to be not planked??? guess its only pink foam, a spar and Tape.

RE: Hook up plane to Pylon race???

oddy,

There already is an event designed to escalate into AMA 424. Read the Club 40 forum.

The planes are no longer cheap, but they are relatively inexpensive. Club 40 sport engines can be had at swap meets for $30.00. At Dayton, I bought one for $20.00 and one for $25.00. Also, there are probably a lot of them in your club. After that, escalate to Club 40, which uses BB engines, the most popular is the same engine used in AMA 424.

Besides that, the planes are great flying sport planes.

Check it out.
