With shipping from Australia at would probably be a $900.00 fueslage.

Don't be so sure I ordered some thing from PA and was suprised the shipping was only $8.00and took about one week.
I'm sure they would be happy to quote you including shipping. Just send an e-mail
Thanks

Also you can try contacting Atlanta Hobby, they are the distributor of most PA airplanes in the USA, and they regularly get shipments from PA, so I'm sure they can help you out too!! their address is www.atlantahobby.com

I would be interested in what it costs for them to ship out a 35%-er.

Hi, Guys,

Been a while since I posted anything, thought I'd share photos of my new pilot for my extra. Its a PA pilot that I painted in extra colours. The pilot wieghs 27gram plus paint!! So light!!
Hey Jason...can you tell me how you painted the pilot and what paint you used? I've never done anything like that before so maybe you can give me an "idiot's guide to"

Sure Strulag,

I,ve painted a few now as ALL my planes have them now...

Start by washing with warm soapy water to remove any mould release.

Use primer from a spray can over the whole lot, but not too much is needed.

Paint the visor and any other items you want with black enamel (spray can is fine).

Give it plenty of time to dry before masking, even a couple of days so the masking tape doesn't peel off any paint.

Mask out the visor etc and trim with a sharp knife.

Paint the rest of it with your base colour (like the yellow on my one). The best paint I found was the small cans avaliable from an automotive accessories shop, used for touch up on cars. They have plenty of flash colours and metallics.

for the shoulder straps and buckles I sprayed some black paint into the lid of the can and used a small brush or even a small peice of foam to apply manually. Although on my next one I might try to use some real cloth and cut into strips and glue on with CA.

Then either use some pinstriping to complete or I used some silver tape and sliced it and used that.

Then as an option, you can spray the completed thing with clear gloss enamel

Hope this helps.

I'll post some pics of a couple of others that I've done if you like.

Please do. That sounds like a lot of work. How long does it take you to do one?

Actually they don't take that much work, On one I just did a basic Blue, then fiddled with it, adding bits and pieces as I felt like it, Really just a few minutes here and there, It just depends on what sort of a look you want. My father did one just using two colours and it took very little time at all...
I'll take the pics and post today.

I thought I would try to breath some life into this forum, I've started to spend some serious stick time on this plane and starting to feel really comfortable with it. I know most that had started flying it some time ago had a lot of good things to say about it and wondered if there are any comments now that others have spent some serious time on this plane....

Hi Guys,
Have recently purchased a PA Extra 35%, have also installed a 3w 106 and have found that there is a larger than normal gap between spinner backplate and where the cowl fits, even after adjustment.... has anyone with the same engine experienced this and if so how did you overcome it.

I am looking for a complete fuselage for the PA 100 , crash damaged./ I have set of wings and a set of tail feathers, New set of carbon fiber landing gear and wheelpants. I have emailed PA about purchasing the fuselage on two different occasions. First response the estimated about 500.00 US, when I inquired futher they Sent back and estimate of 900.00US. All I wanted was an exact cost, they do not appear to have a dealer in the US. So all that have bought planes from this manafacture can expect a major problem in obtaining replacement parts. PA, what is your response to this inquiry and lets post it here on this thread.

I'm in the same boat. I need a fusealage but have had no luck finding one at a resonable price. I too would like to know PA response.

Ed,
The quote of 500 USD was for shipping of fuselage only. The quote of 900 USD was for the entire model box of wings included.
The shipping costs from down under is waaaayyyy over priced and that is why we are now talking with Atlanta hobby who brings all of smaller models to get some of those in too as well as spare parts. This is a new area for them as they deal only with Electric airplanes. For example they sell our Edge 540T 30% but mostly as EP conversion.
Cowling, landing gear, canopies are all easily available and the shipping by Australia Post is not bad at all but when it comes to boxes which are over sized as those are it becomes very pricy because Australia Post won't take them and we have to send by private companies..

Sorry for any inconvenience and we will keep you posted with any news

Awesome video! I gotta get mine to do that!

I'm running pretty much the same set up as you are, except a Mej 25x12 3 blade, and cans, but only 1 Hitec 5955TG servo in each wing. I'm getting some funky instability in roll, and am beginning to wonder if I am getting blowback, even with the monster hold on those digital servos....

thanks for the info. I was thinking either blowback, or warping, where that great big aileron might not be stiff enough with a single servo, and if gets to wobbling around in the slipstream, ugly things might happen.

re the wing; it almost seems too big. Mine loves to float in, barely wants to land. Once I landed, and was rolling out, thought I had slowed enough, so pulled elevator to plant the tail wheel, and it popped up into a stall, shoulder high! My DA 100 yanked it out of danger though! Full throttle from a stall, and I was climbing out. Whew!

Hi Ed,

Just email our support or sales about the stickers.

The CG range is 190mm measured from the wing root leading edge up to 220mm aft.

Hello everybody

I can see that this thread has not been very active for the last six months... But I would ask you a question anyway.

I play with the thought of building an Extra with an electric motor [8D]

But I would just ask what the best servo setup is?

Is 4 Hs-5985 on the ailerons, 1 Hs-5955 on the rudder, and 1 Hs-5985 on each stabilizer enough?

Thanks!
